(Scene: 7 AM, Saturday morning. Husband, myself, and JP are all sound asleep.)

Biscuit: *POUNCE*

Me: *startles awake*

Biscuit: Flying kickapow!

Me: Stupid cat. *gets out of bed and goes through the OPEN bathroom door to run the water in the sink for Biscuit*

Biscuit: *ignores water, darts through the door to chew on the spider plant instead*

Me: ...Why did you need to wake me up to open a door that was already open?

Biscuit: It's 7 AM. I think you should be up.

Me: FML.

Trailer for the London 2012 Games

Dear the UK:

That trailer was a little scary. From Japan, I'd expect it, but you're not Japan. Next time, just show the Silly Olympics.

Something large and buzzy was bonking around my bedroom while Biscuit begged for drinkies from the faucet. I caught it in a tissue and showed it to Biscuit.

Me: *shows Biscuit the stink bug* If you weren't a useless cat, you would have caught this bug.

Biscuit: *purrs*

Someone has to teach me how to use Tumblr, because that seems to be where all the fannish action is these days. IDG how it works. :(

I went to the Shofuso this weekend, and guess who was in the koi pond?

Avatar koi!

So I didn't get to see the Hunger Games this weekend. *sadface*

But I did see the premiere of Legend of Korra and it was awesomesauce! Kind of loving Tenzin a little bit - he's Sokka's nephew, whether he likes it or not. :D

Arizona wades into contraception controversy

The Arizona Senate is considering a bill that would give all businesses the option to exclude contraceptives from health insurance coverage. The only exception is if a woman can prove she is taking the contraceptives for other medical reasons.

Supporters say such a law would protect the religious beliefs of employers, while critics assert the tradeoff would be an affront to the liberties of employees.

As my grandfather would say... it's a stinkin' mess.

:O

Is Vegas taking odds on who's going to make it out of Season 2?

Hey [livejournal.com profile] xi_feng, our favorite Boondock Saint isn't going anywhere for Season 3 of the Walking Dead. *^_^*

'The Walking Dead' Season 3: Star Norman Reedus Teases Bloodshed, Massacre And New Arrivals

I'd be kind of okay if Lori got eaten, tbh.

Next month the U.S. Supreme Court will hear argument about the obscene government overreach that is the individual mandate in President Obama’s health care law. Yet physical intrusion by government into the vagina of a pregnant woman is so urgently needed that the woman herself should be forced to pay for the privilege.

Dear Biscuit:

You do not get to sit on my mousepad in doorstop position and then act all pissed off when I use the mouse. You knew what you were getting into. Brat.

Love,

This might be old meme to some of you, but I just saw it:

Synchronized Swimming Final Fantasy

During the 2004 Summer Olympics in Athens, the United States synchronized swimming duet of Alison Bartosik and Anna Kozlova won the bronze medal using two of Nobuo Uematsu's pieces from Final Fantasy VIII in the second half of their routine.

Of all the weird stuff I've seen associated with FF... this is one of the weirdest. It's just so out of context. But it's also very Final Fantasy, in its way, because of the out-of-contextedness. (An octopus at an opera? What?)

(No Esther Williams jokes, please. I tried synchronized swimming in college, and it is fucking hard.)

Biscuit had to go to the vet yesterday for an annual checkup and a distemper booster shot. While we were there, the vet admired her stripes (which he probably does for every cat). We've always said that she is a brown/black tabby with bleach spots, because she has slightly lighter tabby patches throughout her coat - as if someone had spattered her with a weak solution of bleach. The vet said that the lighter patches mean that she is actually a calico.

You learn something new every day!

And, because Biscuit is way more popular than I am, here is a picture of her in her Trucker Pose.

Biscuit caught a mouse tonight.

ETA: Now that she has laid claim to my mouse, she is biting me every time I try to use it.

Goodbye, Harry and Bella: Gatsby's the New Character Name in Town

Zuzu -- Today's parents grew up watching It's A Wonderful Life on television every Christmas, and the nickname of the little girl who tells dad Jimmy Stewart that every time a bell rings, an angel gets its wings, is finding new favor along with other double names such as Coco and Lulu.

Also, it's Prince Zuko's nickname! Naming your daughter "Azula" might be a recipe for megalomania, though.

The cat. She always wants a drink of water from the faucet.

Husband and I watched the second episode of The Walking Dead last night. As much as I want to watch it live, there are so many damn commercials that DVR'ing it is better.

Quick-hit thoughts. Spoilers! )
