I am not a fan of sour cream.

Nor am I a fan of ranch dressing.

Then why is it, when sour cream is combined with ranch dressing mix in a bowl, does it turn into such pure and unadulterated bliss? The kind where the vegetable is merely a conveyance to get as much of it into your mouth at one time as possible?

God bless you, Hidden Valley.

squee!

Ordered violet contact lenses today for my Isane cosplay.

OMGsoexcited. I've always wanted to try colored lenses. My choices were somewhat limited, as only one manufacturer appears to make colored lenses that are strong enough for my prescription, but they were ordered today!

Have to go over to Ethicon for a bit. Am contemplating making a fast sneak to the fabric store before returning to work. XD

In this post, talk with your icons, and *only* your icons. Post early, post often, and respond to whomever you want. Just leave a dot or a dash in the comment field if LJ tells you you can't post a blank comment.

North Korean Anti-USA propaganda video

Fucking USA!

Either this was inspired by "America! Fuck Yeah!" or the other way around, because the similarity is there.

Weekend

*takes off rabbit ears*

Those hurt when you wear them long enough!

Some of you figured it out quickly, but for those of you who didn't, my last post was a complete lie. Jan. 27th was LiveJournal Rabbit Hole Day, so don't worry, I didn't suddenly get the baby rabies and head off to the nearest place of worship. I would have posted something over the weekend about it, but for some reason, I couldn't update LJ from my inlaws'.

It was my FIL's birthday this weekend, so we went for a visit. Nothing too interesting there. I did manage to get some cosplay done - [livejournal.com profile] jaina, your hakama are coming along fine; I got the front done and started in on the backboard piece. Got the Anna Williams outfit all piped as well, but now I have to work on getting that damn phoenix bird onto the leg before I can line it. Husband has offered to help make a big sketch that I can turn into a pattern. Not looking forward to that applique.

Finally watched Bleach 65. The animation quality has taken a real nosedive, but the fun of watching the boys act like idiots is outweighing that at the moment. Probably they had to get this filler arc animated in a hurry. Frankly, I'd prefer that they just take a hiatus for a while.

Back to work.

You know? I think I'd like to have babies. Lots and lots of babies! It'll be so cute to take them everywhere with me. Like to R-rated movies and to quiet libraries.

It might be about time to go back to church, too. I don't know how I've lived without God in my life. It was so empty and hollow. I was always worrying whether people liked me, but I won't have to worry about that any more, because Jesus loves me and so should you.

This whole career thing is for the birds, too. Whatever possessed me to go to grad school? It was seven years when I could have been having babies!

Also, all my anime friends? Sorry guys, but it's kind of a worthless hobby. You all can decide who's going to get my cosplays. [livejournal.com profile] jaina, you might have to get sewing lessons from someone else. I have to stay home because I'm ovulating that day.

Now I'm going to go home and read "Alice in Wonderland." Wheeeeee!

I haven't blabbed about my weekend in weeks! I'm sure you all missed it a LOT.

Busy weekend, but in a good way. Friday night we went out for a very swank dinner at 3 West with one of my husband's friends from the R&A. They're visiting the USGA this week, and husband is good friends with the technical director. I tried merguez for the first time, and we had a lovely bottle of cabernet to go along with dinner, and dessert was banana and peanut butter spring rolls with vanilla ice cream. Mmmtasty.

Saturday was spent on domestic duties such as cleaning the floor and bathroom and making polenta and spezzatino for dinner (alternately titled "How Arafel Discovered the Joys of Instant Polenta.") Normally to make polenta, you boil cornmeal in water while stirring until it softens and cooks, and it takes 30 to 40 minutes. Instant polenta - dump it in and it's done. w00t! Husband spent the day setting up our new home theatre system, and we tried it out on Serenity, which [livejournal.com profile] fadingembers gave me for Christmas.

Sunday was Team Haxx0r Cosplay Day. [livejournal.com profile] jaina came over about noonish, and we spent the day on our knees in the kitchen (not that way, you dirty pervs!) drawing lines on black fabric. I have to say that things went VERY well, and we had plenty of time to watch Bleach 64 before we moved on to basting pleats in front of the Steelers/Broncos football game. Lookin' good for Katsucon, yes. Afterwards, I did some work on my own cosplay while dropping in and out of watching the Panthers/Seahawks game. We had the Traditional Football Meal of bratwurst on a bun with sauerkraut accompanied by beer. Neither game was terribly exciting, IMO - both the Broncos and the Panthers committed four turnovers, and you can't do that shit esp. in the playoffs and expect to win.

Now, back to work. I have done nothing productive for work all morning. Oh, and GIP too.

There's nothing quite like going to the eye doctor and having her tell you that you need reading glasses to make you feel old old old.

Le sigh. Fartiness, ahoy!

You all need to spend some serious time here if you haven't already, especially in the "Law" section.

The Brick Testament

I don't know whether to laugh hysterically or be utterly horrified.

P.S.: The little wanking Lego man in the Sexual Discharges section may be the funniest thing I have ever seen.

ETA: No, wait. This is the funniest thing I have ever seen. Sex... with an ELEPHANT?

It has been a banner week for Intarweb lolz, and the week is not over yet.

First, on some video game forum, a cosplay thread is started. Late in the thread, someone posts a photo of me as Diao Chan and makes a comment sth like "nice costume if the girl was hot." Several other prepubescent gamers chime in with "she looks mannish." I found out about it because the OP stole my own bandwidth to insult me. (This whole thing just made me laugh - when you have a bunch of pimply kids who prefer underaged Japanese porn stars waving around your photo and calling you mannish, you have to consider the source and just say "LOL INTERNETS!") At any rate, I posted to say "Wanker, don't steal my own bandwidth to talk smack about me," and the rest of the thread goes "LOL INTERNETS" and they all come down on my side. Sadly, it looks like the thread was deleted. :(

Then we had a shiny new Usagi Kou wank, and that ALWAYS makes my day. The icing on the cake was some pics posted by the now deleted [livejournal.com profile] cospoop that were recently taken of Ms. Kou, and she's getting a tummy. Ah, grownup metabolism, you are the great leveler of playing fields.

Now World Wide Web War 1 is brewing between YTMND and eBaum's World, and the dramatic reading of the emails and the associated YTMND stupidity is going to entertain me all day long.

Oh yes and House MD minor spoiler )

Vash fst

Here's a fun work activity for all my friends who have good taste in music! :D

I would like to make a Vash the Stampede fst for - duh - [livejournal.com profile] fst. So far, I have about eight songs. Given that the music I like tends to be floaty electronica, not that much of my collection of music is really all that applicable. So, gentle friends, I ask you the question: which song (or two) makes you think of Vash? Not a pairing song, not V/M, not V/W, just Vash.

MP3s would be appreciated if they're handy, but I can download anything you think is worth hearing. Credit will be given to the suggestors, of course!

The fellow who runs Fansview had a heart attack at Ohayocon!

It has been a bad couple of days for hearts. I hope he'll be all right - he's a very large guy, so that upped his risk, I suppose.

Tell you one thing, when I get back to work tomorrow, I'm getting me a new GP and a cardiologist. Good grief.

Grrr

In my parents' house, it is not acceptable to swear. Unless, the Giants have done something dumb, like fumble or throw an interception or allow a conversion on third and long (in which case, you may say, "Shit.")

There is a lot of swearing going on today.
