I'll just do this and see what kind of response I get. ^_^

Do any of you have a word that is unique to you that you use for something, sort of a nickname for an object or a possession? How did it get started and do you still use it?

For example...

When I was little, I had trouble saying "ginger ale," so it came out as "gerowl." We still call ginger ale this.

My parents had friends who called the television a "waddy," because their child called his pacifier a waddy. The name stuck with my parents, and it was quite common to hear "Turn the waddy off and come to dinner."

Anyone else? ^_^

I used to sing Rudolf the Red-Nosed Reindeer as "... then one FROGGY chrismas eve..." I thought it was froggy not foggy. You see I was never very good at picking lyrics out of songs I heard, I still am not. Perhaps that's one reason I like world music so much, because it's not important if I know exactly what is being said (to me the voice is just another instrument). A more contemporary case of this, is Til Tuesday's "Voices Carry" song--I always thought she was singing "This is Scary."

The list like this goes on. Doesn't matter how much something makes sense or not, sometimes I just get funny thoughts in my head.

OMG! I always thought she was singing "This is scary" too!! Ha ha ha! It's like in Peter Gabriel's "Games without Frontiers," where he's singing "Jeux sans Frontieres" and lots of people thought it was "she's so popular."

So it wasn't just me. :)

Games without Frontiers is not a song I recall off the top of my head, but maybe if I listen to it, it would job my memory.

But it's not just words in songs, I have trouble recognizing sometimes, it's faces... I have a horrible time with that sometimes, especially if I'm not expecting someone to be there. This is why when I am with someone I'm not really familiar with, in a strange place, I won't let them out of my sight, out of fear of getting lost. And yes, I do wear my mittens on strings! (j/k, not quite that bad).
