I'm going to get my new Honda Fit this week. We looked at the Scion xD, and while it did make me think twice, I still like the Fit better.

So excited. It's adorable and fun, and it reminds me of my dear departed Red Rocket.

Now to get a big magnetic block "R" for the tailgate! :D

Now I'm thinking more about trading in my old faithful 11-year-old Chevy Cavalier. It's closing in on 100K miles, and it hasn't needed any significant repairs other than a new alternator 3 years ago. We can afford a new car, but the engineer in me has trouble letting go of one that still works and is paid off. Then again, it would be nice to not worry about the inevitable day when something goes and it costs more to fix than I can justify paying on an old car.

Well, the practical part of me agrees that as long as your Chevy isn't giving you any trouble, it's hard to justify getting a new car. That's the "Click and Clack (http://www.cartalk.com)" rule - once the repair bill exceeds monthly payments, it's time for a new car. The situation you describe is the reason we traded in my 1990 Integra: the suspension was shot, and the cost of the repairs exceeded the worth of the car.

On the other hand, the Fit is cute and sporty and very practical. The seats fold down in all different ways, and you can put all kinds of stuff in there. It's a Honda, so you know it's going to be ultra-reliable. The price is right, too! We got ours for $16,365. Not bad at all!
