ah, i love kurotomosode. i own one too and i love love love it ^_^ i rather like this kimono that you're considering buying. it's subdued and elegant, not to mention that the few imperfections that it does have are almost unnoticible if not completely unnoticible. for the condition of the kimono and how much use you'll probably get out of it, i can't imagine that you would pass up such a good price! happy buying ^_^
What motif does your kurotomesode have? They're always so elegant; pity that the only kind of thing they're appropriate for is a wedding or something like that!
I've been looking for a greyish kimono for a while. The price on this one is good, but I'm not 100% sold on it yet. Thanks for weighing in. :)
mine has mostly chrysanthemum, karabana (imaginary stylized chrysanthemum-like flowers) and taisho-period stylized waves (traditional stacked chevrons) with a handful of pine motif, ume motif, and grass motif. those several motives are all couched in gigantic fans - a motif in itself ^_^ the fans' edges and some karabana are outlined in gold embroidery while all other motives are painted with a gold outline. it is fully lined in white with pink right at the edges. it is a 5-kamon tomesode and the kamon is kiri (paulownia).
