Back from DC. Had a very nice way wining and dining through the city. It seems ironic that although Katsucon was being held close enough to DC that I saw a Sango on the Metro, I wasn't there for the con.

What rocked: Freer Gallery of Art with its collection of Far Asian art. Finally seeing the Declaration of Independence and the Constitution up close and personal.

What didn't: The Smithsonian Museum of the American Indian. I was hoping for an interesting collection of artifacts and perhaps some discussion of the culture that made them. Instead it's the Cherokee Hair Tampon South Park ep all over again. Inasmuch as part of Native American culture extends to selling gullible white people silver trinkets, I guess it's a success.

Samurai Champloo 22 dl'ed. Too tired to watch tonight.

Time for another bath. I'm gimping around the apartment like an eighty-year-old with terminal arthritis.

You were in my area and I didn't even know! And yes, the Native American museum is pretty ...ehhhhh. I had no clue that the metro went far enough into Virginia to intercept any of the Katsucon crowd. I feel like I've been lied to all these years! Feel better!

*grins* I seem to know a lot of otaku in the MD/VA area. This was an outing with my husband, though.

I think that [livejournal.com profile] ramothhe told me that the Metro went right to where the con was being held. Certainly she was close enough that their group went touring DC during the downtime.

::blinks:: Oh, no no, I figured as much! lol It was just surprising to see someone from my F-list visiting the area. I'm always shocked by how small the world actually is.

REALLY?! And I seriously had absolutely no clue. Of course, last time I went to Katsucon it was being held in Richmond, I fink? That might explain why I thought it was so far away. Welp, looks like that con is a go for me next year! ^_^ Metro here I coooome!

I think Katsu's been held in Arlington for a couple years running now, but it's not something I've paid all that much attention to. Definitely might think about going to Katsu next year depending on whether Ohayocon is a go next year. Certainly it's cheaper to drive somewhere than it is to fly, and a lot of ppl I know seemed to be going.

Ohhh-kayyy... I won't get pouty then. (Not that I've been around LJ much lately).

Perhaps you were on the wrong line? I can't remember what line we were on, unfortunately. It was later in the morning on Saturday (maybe about 9:30 or so) and most otaku attending cons don't roll out of bed until noon.

Eh... draw your own conclusions about the NMAI before you take my word. If you work in the city, it shouldn't be much trouble to hop over there on the Metro; the L'Enfant Plaza stop is right behind the museum, I think.

Samurai Champloo Episode 22

Samurai Champloo Episode 22...meh. Not what you'd expect after watching the previous 21 episodes. -_-; I won't give away too much...but prepare to be wowed with...weirdness. And I mean a LOT of weirdness. And I don't mean weird in a good way, either.

**shrugs**

I found the episode to be pointless and disturbing...and not at all in keeping with the quality of the previous 21 episodes.

The word from the [livejournal.com profile] _champloo community is that it's the "Brain Scratch" of SC. We'll see.

You don't have to sign your posts, I know who you are! ^_^ (you must be used to mailing lists.)

**laughs** Actually, it's a habit I find annoying difficult to get out of. Truthfully, I have no idea why I bother signing...after all, my name is up there **points to her name** for everyone to see.

Heck...I do it on my own LJ posts. @.@

Oh well...quirks of the under-sleeped...if that's even a word.

^_^x

**makes the effort to NOT sign this time** ^_~

If you're used to mailing lists, then signing a name is de rigeur - it was something I would forget when posting a message, and the comm would respond with "who are you again?" Or, if you email a lot. No worries! ;)
