Looky, I made something with Sculpey!

I was dreading starting this, but when I was blabbering at my long-suffering husband about how to make different parts of Diao Chan's outfit, it occurred to me that it would be easy to make her necklace with cookie cutters. And BOY DO I HAVE A MILLION COOKIE CUTTERS. :D

Came out okay for a first pass!

...That's good! I always had trouble getting really consistent surfaces with Sculpey, but that stuff is so much fun to work with anyway! Did you have to glaze it to get that shiny a coat? And how'd you manage to attach the gems? I tried embedding a few things onc, but it never worked quite well, and after crashing last week, I'm thinking perhaps a small side hobby would be in order outside of work to help me relax.

*grins* What you're not seeing are the curved imprints from my fingernails, because there's several layers of Krylon gold spray paint on it. No glaze, only the paint. The gems aren't embedded - they're tacked on with hot glue, and it looks OK. Since it's a costume, I have the "it's good enough" attitude regarding perfection. :)

What did you like to make with Sculpey?

Ah, paint, ok! I used the "bake in oven" variety of sculpey, which you could buy in colors premade. I think I made one of everything- lots of animals like caterpillars, because I never claimed to be talented, but also beads in patterns, signs, bobble-aliens, vehicles, etc...
