Looky, I made something with Sculpey!

I was dreading starting this, but when I was blabbering at my long-suffering husband about how to make different parts of Diao Chan's outfit, it occurred to me that it would be easy to make her necklace with cookie cutters. And BOY DO I HAVE A MILLION COOKIE CUTTERS. :D

Came out okay for a first pass!

I'm so glad, yo, cause I thought I would be the only one cracking myself up with it... You were the one who inspired it with 'hay Vash!111' and 'WE NEVAR TALK N E MORE!!' ::loves::

Tiggy said it was 'weird'! Actually, what she said was 'your icons keep getting weirder and weirder'.

Well, technically [livejournal.com profile] kenzier did it, since she made the icons, but hee.

And oh my god I just read the angstiest damn story I've seen in years and I needed something happy. So yay for looking at the icon again.

Well, it's het, so dunno if you'd like it. It's on the Just In page under "The Visit" I think by Riu or something like that.

`tis well done, but I won't be reading it again.

...That's good! I always had trouble getting really consistent surfaces with Sculpey, but that stuff is so much fun to work with anyway! Did you have to glaze it to get that shiny a coat? And how'd you manage to attach the gems? I tried embedding a few things onc, but it never worked quite well, and after crashing last week, I'm thinking perhaps a small side hobby would be in order outside of work to help me relax.

Thanks! :D Sculpey is a kind of modeling clay that you bake in the oven to harden once you're done modeling. I have a couple extra packs at this point. ^_^; I bought white Sculpey and then spray-painted it.

Hee. Thank you! Sadly, that was the only bit of progress worth showing - I finished Diao Chan's tunic, which was a lot of work, but it's not much to see yet.

Just think of all the cosplay you won't feel guilty about doing once November is over. *hugs*

*grins* What you're not seeing are the curved imprints from my fingernails, because there's several layers of Krylon gold spray paint on it. No glaze, only the paint. The gems aren't embedded - they're tacked on with hot glue, and it looks OK. Since it's a costume, I have the "it's good enough" attitude regarding perfection. :)

What did you like to make with Sculpey?

Hee, thanks. :) It's a long way to being done, though.

And your icon makes me ROFL too.

Ah, paint, ok! I used the "bake in oven" variety of sculpey, which you could buy in colors premade. I think I made one of everything- lots of animals like caterpillars, because I never claimed to be talented, but also beads in patterns, signs, bobble-aliens, vehicles, etc...

Actually its December/January now. We discussed it and moved the defense to December 10th. So its a bit more managable now at least. And more time for multiple drafts and such which is always a good thing.

Looks really nice!
Very nice colors!

Sorry I wasn't on on Sunday. I got totally sucked in with Silent Hill 4 and dad used the online comp most of the evening.

Thank you! :)

No worries about Sunday, I wasn't on very long. Husband wanted to go for a drive in the country and then the game came on. I'm happy to hear that you can manage playing SH4 now!
