A lot of my friends on my LJ list like to talk about their dreams and what their dreams mean and post detailed descriptions about what they dreamed last night.

I for one hope that my dreams are nothing more than random neural firings, because I had a dream about my advisor stumbling drunk around the lab with no pants on, and I sincerely hope that this does not mean anything. And I do not even want to consider the one where he was patting me on the head.

You say: window to the unconscious.

I say: brain fart. (at least I friggin' hope so, in my case. Yours may be different.)

I dream like that doesn't necessarily mean you subconsciously want that to happen, rather just the opposite, you sure hell to hope it doesn't... a fear, not a desire.

Believe me, there are dreams, though not *classic* nightmares, leave me hoping such a thing never happened.

I still think my dreams at least are a bunch of random neural firings designed to let my brain blow off excess thinkage at the end of the day. ^_^

But I am decidedly nonromantic and not one who is inclined to believe in any kind of spirituality.

Most of my dreams are brain farts, I guess, but some of them I think have meaning--at least are influence by Real Life things. ;)

Oh, absolutely dreams are influenced by real life things! I often notice that I dream very vividly when I've had a day of things that are new or exciting in some way, good or bad. It seems to be a way to blow off excess stimulation.

>because I had a dream about my advisor stumbling drunk around the lab with no pants on

Scary... very scary...

I heard a comment from a psychologist on tv the other day: dreaming about ppl does not necessarily mean you want this situation to happen with them.

Reassuring isn't it ?

You're right about that, I don't want to see my prof in that situation. Brrr.. ;)

from what i've herd about dreams it cuold be that you can't stand the thought of this person doing something totaly stupid, you are afraid of him doing something totaly stupid or he is doing something totaly stupid just not that thing.

your brain is just trying to make sence of the days gongs on and is farting out all the weard stuff left behind thats why it can mean something sometimes, or so i've herd but its all peoples opionions on something thay don't understand and everyone is intitled to there own opionin.
