Sep. 3rd, 2002 04:02 pmI've gotten really bad about keeping this thing up recently.
Thanks to
ssilverfish for the weekend's soundtrack. Right back atcha soon, chiquita.
Went to PA over the weekend for S's brother's wedding. It was something I hadn't been looking forward to for a while, but it was...okay. S's extended family was up from FL and so it was nice to see them. It also meant that we couldn't stay in the Q household for the weekend because there was nowhere for us to sleep. This was not a problem b/c I prefer my parents' house anyway. Plenty of hot water and a decent shower in the morning.
We went to see Road to Perdition with S's cousin. Very good movie, but tough as nails. Disturbing with brief shocks of violence. Color is used to maximum effect in this film; most of it is in muted blacks and grays and browns and other cool colors, until someone gets shot and then the red stands out like a scream.
Dad Q had a barbecue that night for the three families, complete with cowboy hats and bandannas for all of us. I loathe hats under any circumstances so I claimed I was from Jersey and north of the Mason-Dixon line, thanks kindly. It was pretty fun, got to talk to G's friend who's the airline pilot. Last I saw her, she'd been getting ready for an exam on a larger plane, and I heard that she'd passed. She said she missed her smaller plane still. Funny to hear someone talk like that, most of the time when you miss your vehicle, you're talking about your car or some similar craft.
The wedding was good for the bride and groom but geez, they got ripped on the place. It rained like a son of a bitch for the entire day, so it's a good thing that the event was indoors. The food was awful and the bar only stocked beer and wine, and if you wanted a bottle of water you had to pay for it. On top of this, there were tip jars out. The deejay was a moron, couldn't keep his music in sets so it was all over the place. The whole wedding felt and looked cheap, and it's too bad because it didn't have to. The manager of the place was just a bastard and he took them for every penny he could.
We saw M and T yesterday and the work they're doing on their house. They didn't just buy a house, they bought a Project, and in some ways it still looks like they moved in yesterday. It was good to see them though, it had been a dog's age since we got together. I'd like to be more friendly with them because I like them a lot, and also because they're also in no hurry at the moment to get Babied. It is going to be interesting when we go to AZ with the B's and all L will be able to talk about is Baby, baby, baby. I will have to bring some cotton stuffing for the ears and an all-purpose Smile.
Went to Target and bought some more Smint.
Let my husband sleep all Monday afternoon so I could watch anime. Bad.
Back at work and doing more Inotek stuff. At least the HPLC work is done. The blasted machine is fine again, would you believe it was just as simple as a blocked intake valve. It was doing a very good Busted Check Valve imitation. Bossman does not have to know about this.
Ciao bella.
Thanks to
