Pretty good day so far.

Postdoc 2 got her wish with a box of Munchkins bought this morning with a great effort from yours truly. Traffic on Harrison Street was a bitch as usual and even more so with the road work on Washington Road. Perseverance. Annoying road work like that reminds me of that part in "Falling Down" where Michael Douglas starts yelling at the construction workers - "What was wrong with it yesterday? Why don't you just admit that there is nothing wrong with the road?"

We were naughty and went road trippin' up to Iselin to to Pearl art store for Postdoc 2's poster at the upcoming ACS meeting. It's fun to go to art stores, reminds me of my art student days, hopeless as I might have been. It was great fun to play with pastel and acrylic and watercolor and other media, even if there was very little skill there. Browsing around such wonderlands of colored pens and paper and paint and canvas makes me wish that I had the skill to transfer the images in my head to paper without the inconvenience of needing talent. :P

Dvd's arrived last night and hubby wasn't cranky about them, he was rather pleased at the deal I got on them. He called me "ballsy" for buying so much junk off eBay without worrying that the person on the other end might be giving me a dirty deal. I shrugged. That's what feedback is for. Was most pleasantly surprised to find that the DVDs had English audio; Trigun seems to be the sole anime I prefer to watch in English. It fits better with the Wild West theme; it doesn't really fit to see charas wandering around in Frontierland and speaking Japanese. In the same vein, Rurouni Kenshin is wasted in English.

Fun fact: the same English VA voiced both Meryl Stryfe and Kaoru.

Worky worky work work, told the bossman what I'd found out about our HPLC columns. Funny how he always wants to know about the less promising option. The tech at the HPLC company told me cheerfully "you know that chiral HPLC is a black art, you never know how it's going to work out, right?" Me: Thaaaaaanks, one more worry. Managed to get the troublesome expt to repeat somewhat, feeling a bit better, but now it's the chromatography that's a bitch.

ciao bella
