going directly from trance to Suzanne Vega can induce serious brain confusion

and I turn to the crowd as they're watching
they're sitting all together in the dark and the warm
and I wanted to be in there among them
I see how their eyes are all gathered into one
and she turns to me with her hand extended
palm is split with a flower with a flame

and she said I've come to lighten this dark heart...

(I find I've been listening to this song a lot)

It's one of those albums I have a hard time picking a favorite. I like every song, each for a different reason.

I too would think that is a transition best done slowly... :)

Oooo... I love that one.

How about some "Marlene on the Wall"...

even if I am in love with you
all this to say, what's it to you?
observe the blood, the rose tattoo
of the fingerprints on me from you

other evidence has shown
that you and I are still alone
we skirt around the danger zone
and don't talk about it later

and I tried so hard to resist
when you held me in your handsome fist
and reminded me of the night we kissed
and of why I should be leaving...

(oops, that was probably rude of me to post a big chunk of song lyrics in your journal. you can kick my hinder and delete it if you'd like -- I wouldn't be offended).

*blush*

Post away! :D I'm always on the hunt for new stuff.

I'm the kind of music-listener who tends to be more lyrics-driven than beat or orchestration-driven. I like to listen to the words and I like to sing along. So, I'm likely to be swayed by thoughtful or storylike lyrics.

Guess that's why I like Tori Amos and musicals. :)

I believe in frightening my brain once in a while. At least I can say that my tastes are eclectic.. :)

I like most of the songs but I admit I'm not crazy about the tenth track. I didn't like "Calypso" at first but it's starting to grow on me.

The tenth track is "Wooden Horse" right? That's probably my least favorite as well... it freaks me out. Honestly, I've never been a big fan of "Luka" either. I like it much more now than when it came out though.

Heheh... cool. :) Definitely download "Marlene" if you haven't already. I really love her first cd. I love the opening of the first song, "Cracking"...

it's a one time thing
it just happens
a lot
...

If you enjoy her lyrics, I highly recommend her book The Passionate Eye as well. It has lyrics, essays, journal entries. Great stuff.

Hmmm... "Cracking" is so lovely... the MP3 stinks though! Might have to email you for a copy of the CD. :)

...dizzy golden, dancing green...

Absolutely. I can fill in the rest of your SV collection as well, if you let me know what you do and don't have. :)
