Bunch of little things floating around.

Labwork: Didn't get to talk to bossman last week due to a combination of bad timing and having to do annoying things like teaching. Friday I got an enormous set of molecular models I'd ordered from Sigma-Aldrich, and I spent most of the time not spent in our damnable group meeting assembling my porphyrin.

More fun than Legos! I don't do well with spatial visualization, so it's been beneficial to have something to poke and prod. Also, it cost about $200, so it had better have some justification.

The chat on Friday was chaotic but fun. Had to bail on the IRC chat at about 10:30 PM after calling my husband in Hilton Head - it was just too much to keep up with. When I'm on AIM I tend to get messaged by ppl who want to chat (mostly about when I'm going to update Storm Front) and it gets hard to follow so many conversations. Other people are more mentally agile than I, and for that I envy them.

Heard that there was an EARTHQUAKE (while I was chatting no less!) and the epicenter was up in VT somewhere. I didn't feel a thing, but my dad said he felt his bed shake. It was sometime before midnight, so I was definitely awake.

Dragged my protesting ass out of bed on Saturday and went to visit mom for her birthday, which was technically last week but she had a tummy bug. Every time I get tummy bugs I end up hooked up to an IV in the hospital, so it was better to stay away. We went to dinner (which was very good) and I had gnocchi in a vodka cream sauce, a perennial favorite.

Sunday was fun; I graded lab reports (yuck) but then mom and I went out to the thrift store to look for some specific and cheap clothing. We had great success and a trial run with one of hubby's white shirts looked tremendous. He wouldn't be too pleased to know that I wrinkled one of his good shirts, though. I don't think I'll tell him. :D

Drive drive drive and got home around 9 PM. Played some VS and couldn't find the damned Wyvern in the mines again. Arseley needs a better set of directions.

Have some VS ruminations but I think I'll save them for a later post.

Much to do this week. Lab reports need to be finished, must find a suitably short and interesting paper for lit presentation on Friday, call for a long-overdue haircut, review what the heck a point group is anyway.

Hubby will stay home from work tomorrow to recuperate from his trip. I'd love to stay home with him.

Perhaps it would be a good day to see about that cute house we saw in the magazine. Though we're not really in the market for a house, this one looked terrific, not too expensive and not a McMansion like most of the houses in our area. It has 2 bedrooms and a garage with a heated loft... the pictures look awesome. What burns me is that we could put 20% down on it, no sweat, but are we really in a position right now to take care of the house... *sigh*

Oh well, back to work.

200 for the molecular models ? Ooooh what a price ! Hope it will be useful for you.

Small earthquake at least. O_O

Your mom has completely recovered from the stomach bug now I hope.

>He wouldn't be too pleased to know that I wrinkled one of his good shirts, though. I don't think I'll tell him. :D

Heh heh, shhhh.... what he doesn't know about his shirt's creases can't hurt him. ;)

>Arseley needs a better set of directions.

Make use of the map in the menu, it shows you the rooms and what rooms you have been in and the door openings where you haven't been thru yet, plus compass directions.

Sounds like you have quite a week ahead... good luck with selecting a suitable paper to present.

Like Shadow I wish you had the opportunity to put in a bidding on the house too. No chance you can't make it after all ?

Actually it wasn't a small earthquake! O_O The epicenter was up in Vermont, and it was 5.5 on the Richter Scale - enough to shake you around! But we were too far away for more than a little wiggle.

I'm trying to use the map, and I still get turned around. So much for my map skills. Shut up, Laguna, that's not funny.

It might be possible to get the house if we're serious about it; we probably do qualify for a mortgage and the house is still semi-available (re: my answer to Shadow.) But do we really want to go through the hassle of moving right now... that's the question.

Yet it sounds like you really want that house. It wouldn't hurt to go look at it...

*tempts Arafel with more house pictures*
