moonwiseFor whatever reason, I haven't had a heck of a lot to say recently. S'pose it's better just to shut up than to blather on about nothing.
Things have been pretty much okay. Ankona and I are working on some new separations (which reminds me that I must sign up for the HPLC for a couple days... AIM anyone? It's the sole source of entertainment with separation after separation... bleh.) But it's a little progress, perhaps.
We visited the family over the weekend for Easter. Nothing special doing at the Q's, just yard work. Steve's bro finally proposed to his longtime g/f and they think they're getting married in Sept. Things are already a mess with the preparations; too many chiefs and not enough Indians, plus brother doesn't bother communicating important info to his fiancee. As long as I'm not involved.
We saw my family on Sunday; first the rest of the M family and then the H's. My grandparents are really showing their age; it's a little disturbing to me... I always thought of my grandpa as an older version of my dad, and I guess it's a reminder that my parents are getting older too. My father's bro was being a pain in the ass. He is so mean to his wife sometimes and he thinks it's funny. He must have dressed her down about bringing a new cat home from the ASPCA five times while I was there, and MS or not, I was ready to smack him in the head. He also went on and on about naming the new kitty Grant; he's a Civil War buff and they have already named their other new cat Sherman. His poor wife gets no reinforcement that her ideas are valid too, and it makes me so mad.
My cousin Sam is developing into a real brat. Like father, like son. He's allowed to slam on his sisters with no repercussions.
Dinner with the H's was much nicer. Some cousins and aunts and uncles were there, and my cousin Chris called in from Colorado. It was the first time I'd spoken with him in a long time; he's hard to reach. He seems to be doing well tho he is very busy learning new things.
That about sums up Easter weekend.
Did hear a short news piece on NPR about marshmallow Peeps. (For those of you who do not know what a Peep is, it's a little marshmallow animal, either a bunny or a chick, covered in colored sugar.) It was terrific. When I tuned in, they were discussing that next year's Peeps are made now b/c they have a shelf life of 18 months. The reporter talked about having a freshly-made Peep and how you could replicate the condition by putting one in the microwave and heating it for 10-15 seconds and no more - "unless you want it to explode," said the reporter, at which I cheered. I have done the "what happens when you put a Peep in the microwave" experiment. The reporter went on to say "this is the best way to taste a fresh Peep, unless of course you like them stale."
It's so nice to have one's preference for stale Peeps justified. :) *munches on a stale Peep*

AIM? Of course, I'm always here. :) Actually I found out that some cell-phones can use AIM on them (web-based ones). Is that a good or bad thing? hmm...

Isn't that good, not to be involved in preparations, especially when there are too many chiefs and ongoing communication problems ? :)

Yuck... that does not sound like a good marriage at all... it's embarassing and sad to watch couples make fun of each other and try to put each other down in public. I guess it's very common but it's nasty when it's done.
:) Good to hear you had a good (and busy !) Easter and got to see some cousins again and talk to them. Meeting up with old friends is always good. :)
LOL ! Hideto, 7 years to make a marshmallow ? Now that'd be stale marshmallow indeed !
So the difference between a stale Peep and a fresh Peep is that the stale has a slightly hard surface ?
