Finally, after several years and three different ports, I finished the main storyline of FFIV. FINALLY!

I'd initially bought the GBA port when I bought my DS, and I played it on and off until the DS remake came out. At that time, I sold my GBA port version (because hey, why hang onto it when there's a new one available) and took up the DS version instead. Turns out that 1. the DS version is a lot harder than the original and 2. Augments are not good for someone indecisive like me, who can't decide who to give which Augment to or when to equip it. It also means that when characters leave the party and drop more Augments, I don't get them. I kept letting my ass kicked by those damnable Dark Sages, and I put the game down in frustration.

Then the PSP port came out, so the third time is the charm. It's also nice that the PSP has a big screen, which makes it easier for someone like me. My eyes aren't the greatest to begin with, and I'm getting older, which makes the little DS screen tough to deal with sometimes. Plus the FMVs were shiny! (But why none in the ending? Boo!) The difficulty in the PSP version is the same as the GBA port, so this time I got the whole way through the game. Hooray for cute married couples. <3

(In that vein, I read on the FF wiki that Ceodore's age had to be retconned such that Rosa wouldn't be pregnant when they got married. LOL. I knew she was up to something when she visits Cecil in his room at the beginning of the game.)

Ooh, congratulations! I played FFIV when I was just a kidlet (long enough ago that it was still FFII), so I have very fond memories of the story and characters. Cecil and Rosa are darling and one of my favorite canon FF couples, though I always for sorry that Kain had to 'lose' and go off to be emo on his own for years.

I didn't know they'd retconned Ceodore's age! I kind of wish they hadn't; the idea of Rosa being pregnant during part of the first game is pretty badass.

You'd think after a while that Kain might get tired of skulking around on a mountaintop and maybe he'd go find a nice girl/boy (depending on your preference) somewhere. Honestly, that torch must be burning his hand by now.

Rosa is indeed in the family way in the FFIV: Interlude, though apparently Captain Oblivious doesn't figure that out until the end of the game when she shares her news. Everyone else seems to be saying, "Hey, Rosa, you don't look so hot." Maybe Cecil figured that it was normal to go throw up behind a rock after every battle. XD

It occurs to me that I own 3 different versions of FFIV: The Complete Collection for the PSP, the anthologies port for the Playstation and the DS Version. So far I've only played the first bit of the interlude in CC and haven't even touched the anthology port (it came with FFV when I bought it) but I have enjoyed what I've played so far of the DS version. (Gotta go back to the moon to watch FuSoYa and Golbez confront Zemus's shiny bald head.)

Ugh, I remember my first thought for the interlude being "They retconned Ceodore's age? *grumble* Cockblockers..." because it made Rosa and Cecil so much more interesting in my eyes when I assumed they routinely shagged out of wedlock. I mean Rosa making visits to Cecil's room at night was nothing out of the ordinary yet the game now expects me to believe they just talked and played checkers all that time? I am dissappoint.

I am tempted to go back to playing the interlude to just see how much of a dimwit Cecil can be. Lovable though he is, his brain matter leaves much to be desired. I mean when even Palom and Porom point out that something's wrong with Rosa and yet Cecil remains blithely ignorant, you suddenly understand why Kain couldn't fathom Rosa accepting the dimwit over him. Oh, Cecil, somewhere on Mount Ordeals Kain is sharpening his lance angrily and thinking of you.

Everyone else: CECIL, YOU MORON, YOUR WIFE IS PREGNANT.

Cecil: How did that happen? Babies are a special delivery from chocobos!

Poor Cecil. His naiveté makes his attempt at matchmaking between Firion and Lightning all the more amusing.

I mean Rosa making visits to Cecil's room at night was nothing out of the ordinary yet the game now expects me to believe they just talked and played checkers all that time? I am dissappoint.

I can see Rosa going back to her girlfriends to complain: "I'm wearing next to nothing, I show up in his room at midnight, and he still doesn't get it!"
