RACE CAR

I want you all to know that there may be a race car in our garage in the near future.

When my husband was in college, he was part of a Formula SAE team that built a motorcycle engine-based race car. The team eventually took the car to Michigan and entered it into the Formula SAE competition that year, and they placed ninth IIRC, which isn't too shabby. One of the team members was a guy named Jerry, and he and my husband reconnected through (where else) Facebook. Jerry still lives locally, and he had heard that some old race cars from our university were going to be up for grabs and would my husband be interested in fixing one of them up.

Of course husband fell all over himself answering HELL YES and asked me whether that unused corner of our garage behind the Honda S2000 mightn't be a good spot for a little race car to live. I rolled my eyes, said yes, and now he and Jerry are going to meet for lunch and discuss how to work this out. It would be pretty sweet if the race car they brought home was the car they'd built together in college.

So, race car in my garage. Awesome.

A race car would be almost as awesome as the S2000 :-)

So far I have not been able to drive the S2000 consistently, because my stick-shift lessons didn't stick well. But I could drive the race car (if it's the one husband designed) because it has paddle shifters! :D

How's your Seven?

The Seven's great :-) It needs new tyres now after 30k miles - they still have plenty of tread but the rubber's 5 years old. Cars that weight nothing are cheap to run lol.

So would you be taking a race car to the track?

I'm sure you put performance tires on the Seven?

What gets done with the race car once it's restored is up to husband and Jerry. I have no idea what those two are cooking up. As long as it keeps them busy!

We actually haven't had performance tyres on the Seven up to now, because we drove it so much in the rain in the winter when we first got it, so we ran all weathers. Not that we have three cars, and the SO is working from home, that doesn't happen any more, so this time we likely will.

Oh, that's so cute. I love that he loves cars that much. Awesome indeed.

Husband would cheerfully have worked for the car industry if he didn't have a wife who wasn't interested in living on the West Coast. :)
