Final Fantasy 8

Because I am a big dork and I love the Laguna and Raine pairing, this would have to be the Winhill flashback and the cutscene at the end of the game when Laguna gives Raine a ring. These parts also do not have Rinoa in them which is a bonus. These scenes make me all mushy inside, right before I get mad again that Laguna never managed to make it home. I always wonder how long the two of them had before it all fell apart. (I mean, we know Squall was conceived sometime in November, by his birthdate. I have experience with August babies. *cough*) Aside from my shippy preferences, I very much enjoyed the scene where Irvine tries and fails to shoot Edea, because later on you find out that he was hired to assassinate his foster mother, and he couldn't do it.

Final Fantasy 10

Yuna marries Seymour. Seymour kisses Yuna. Yuna wipes her mouth off, slowly and deliberately. Yuna spends so much of the beginning of the game being a good little summoner and going off on her doomed path, and then she starts to show her backbone.

You know, I never connected the dots on Irvine failing to shoot Edea, because by the time you get to the orphanage flashback I had completely lost interest in the storyline. Congrats on causing me to dislike your favorite FF just a wee bit less.

Honestly, after playing other FF games, I can understand why everyone else disliked FFVIII. The storyline is not exactly compelling, if your previous experience was with FFVII (for example.)

Aww, I'm right with you on the Laguna/Raine part in FFVIII and about the lack-of-Rinoa-parts too 9__9; It always struck me as a late summer night in the FMV, perhaps because of the lushness of Winhill's scenery (and if we assume said scenery looks like it does in the playable bits with Lagune because it's spring/early summer then it would make sense that this happens a month or two later?) Which... is all the sadder if they only have four or five months together, all told. They both deserved better than that.

I agree with your assessment re: timing - and it looks like it's autumn at the end of the FMV, which is probably symbolic. But I have to say that if it's late summer, Raine must be hot as blazes in that sweater. Maybe they fixed it.
