Oddly, the bad reviews swirling around Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen kinda make me want to see it. One of my complaints about the original Michael Bay movie was "NEEDS MOAR ROBOTS." Consequently, the reviewers have been complaning that the new movie is plotless and didn't have much to do with humans. Given the G1 series, that sounds about right. Also, "Revenge of the Fallen" has Frank Welker as Soundwave, and that is seriously bitchin' right there. And also a space bridge. (We 80's kids remember the space bridge, right?)

Only downside is that husband is not interested in spending any money on a bad movie, and I might have to find a TF Movie Buddy. :P

(One of these days, I'm going to get around to writing my "Mirage competes at Spa-Francorchamps" fic, I swear.)

LOL, my husband is the complete opposite! If you want to come to White Plains, we're seeing it in IMAX tomorrow.

How did you like it? I live a very long way from White Plains, otherwise I might have taken you up on your offer. :)

Aww, sympathies! 'Specially since I kind of want to see it too--I think I've finally absorbed enough of the older canon to appreciate the overall world and a bad movie that's "moar robots, fewer humans"--but there's no one around to see it with me, and this really seems like a movie that requires a partner or two to watch and mock with.

The first TF movie was awful too, and I still consider it one of the great guilty pleasures of all time. Too bad we can't go to see Bay's movie together, because yes, it needs a mocking partner. :)

Transformers should be about moar robots and less humans. We didn't watch the show cause of Spike and Sparkplug. We liked seeing mechs do battle and/or exchange witty repertoire. Some great one liners were born like that (such as Starscream's 'I'm stupid, I'm stupid!'- gotta love the sneaky bastid XD)

Despite that I'm not the least bit interested in seeing it. I wanna watch a TF movie, I'll just pop in the one from '86.

Yeah, although I had a vague crush on Spike, what I really wanted to be was the TF's Best Pal. The humans were completely irrelevant.

Megatron and Starscream bitching at one another was always a classic.

Yeah, being the TF's best friend would definitely have its perks. I'd just hope I wouldn't do the typical best friend of main character thing and land in trouble. ;p

since when is a movie about a bunch of robots kicking the shit out of each other suppose to have a "plot"?

Soundwave FTW.

Exactly! The G1 plots were thin at best, but I still enjoyed the hell out of them.

Soundwave was the best. :D

It's soooo much fun. Still can't get over what they did to Ironhide as far as a re-make. But the movie was fun!

Things to note:

Constructicons
Space Bridge
The Nemesis
Female Autobots
and some good old fashion banter between two characters(don't want to spoil for you if you don't know who's in the movie.)

Did you know they did a re-release of G1?

Forgive my lack of html's, it's late.

Wow, another re-release of the TF series! And I just put myself in the 80's Kid Cartoon Poorhose by buying the Real Ghostbusters DVD set.

Does Peter Cullen also voice "Arrrhn-haiiid?" Because that would be brilliant.

I thought both he and Frank Welker did the majority of the voices in the old G1 cartoon.

Oh, I meant in the movie! I know that Peter Cullen was Ironhide in the G1 cartoon. :)

"Yeah! When you got it, use it!"
