And after all that srs biz, I want to announce that I've finally finished watching Paradise Kiss. It's only taken me three or so years!

*giggle* Congratulations? I'm tempted to ask what you thought of it, but maybe a three-year stretch isn't the best for forming coherent opinions.

Somehow I managed to keep the plot in mind for that long, though! It was a good story, and I thought that the pressures and insecurities that Yukari was facing were presented very well - wanting to fit in with the atelier, not being sure of George, and her relationship with her mother. It didn't end the way I expected, either; I was convinced that George was going to break Yukari's heart and leave her pregnant or something, but that didn't happen. He did seem to care for her, and in the end, she loved him enough to let him go. So, a very nice story with a good ending.

Interesting--thanks very much for your thoughts! Paradise Kiss is one of my favorite manga (though I wasn't quite as fond of the anime), and one of the things I liked best about it was the inclusions of those very realistic problems, and the fact that the ending acknowledged them without either going too far into tragedy and cynicism or dismissing them in favor of something fluffy and unrealistically happy.

(I peeked at your comment below to [livejournal.com profile] jaina--I do hope you enjoy Chevalier d'Eon, when/if you ever get to it. :D I'm not sure I'd give it wholehearted recommendation, but it's got some good bits and some wonderfully crazy historical mish-mash.)

Now I have to get going on Chevalier d'Eon. One of these days.

Same as what everyone else said. George x Isabelle OTP.

Agreed! They were such a nice couple, whether you perceive it as friendship or more.

Also, I was hoping Yukari would end up with Tokumori, and I was happy that it happened without George kicking her to the curb.

This reminds me - I've yet to watch that final 'Yami No Matsuei' episode I've been delaying for ~4yrs now. Too bad I just decided to lay off booze for a while - YNM makes no sense if you watch it sober.

I've never watched YNM, but it does have a very dedicated following!

I hope it's manga which has. Because anime? It's like Necronomicon - is inconceivable and gives you confusion and sanity loss.

Wow, really? I love them both, but I've always found the manga to be even less coherent than the anime--neither one is a shining example of narrative sense and consistent characterization, but the manga is also saddled with some of the most non-sequential paneling ever and Matsushita's apparent inability to remember what the plot even is from page to page.

*drive-by commenting, sorry!*
