Think of how useful a beta fish would be, though! It might be much easier than finding a human beta--just pick a fishy version up from the pet shop whenever you need your next fic looked over.

(Could lead to complications if there were different strains of betas, though. "Sorry, all we have for sale this week are Gundam betas." "But my fic is SGA!")

I like your concept beta fish. We used to have boy betas when we had a tank. They are fun to put next to a mirror and watch them go all territorial.

Edit: I just realized that you were ranting about betta vs beta. You know I always thought it was spelled beta. We had those fish for years, too. :P

I kept bettas for a long time - they're very pretty. Feeding them frozen bloodworms was icky, though.
