It's been a good weekend for all my teams

Rutgers beat USF, to the general joy of the stadium. We went to the game and had a very fun time, although it was not the euphoric high of a year ago.

Ferrari's Kimi Raikonnen won a three-way shootout with the McLarens to win the F1 Drivers' Championship by one point. He's had terrible luck for his whole career, and he certainly should have won by now. Kudos to Kimi! He actually smiled during his post-race interview, a real true big grin.

The Giants won against the struggling Niners. They'd better enjoy it, because the next big test is the 'Boys.

We walked around our neighborhood tonight. It only took us two months to do it. And finally we have a bed that's not on the floor.

All in all, good times.

Time for pot roast.

Yay nook!

Do you guys want a new chandelier? I think we're going to replace both of them.

lol Finns. We're not quite as solemn as Russians though, or so I've heard. :(
I hope Räikkönen gets to keep his title.

Russians are solemn? I never met a Russian who wasn't completely insane, and I do not mean that in a good way. They smiled plenty.

Kimi's just quiet, it seems, when he's not wearing a gorilla suit. Heikki Kovaleinen is very personable, and even Mika Häkkinen has a sense of humor. (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XtlNxwu43g8) (We miss the Hakk Attack!) I hope he gets to keep his title, too. This fuel thing is nonsense.

That's interesting! I just read about the differences between Finnish and Russian cultures a little while ago: it was explained that smiling is a very private thing for Russians, and that they only really smile when there's a good reason for it. I don't know how accurate a generalization it is, but it seemed to explain a few things I had been wondering about our Eastern neighbors. :D

Hmm. Maybe it's a public vs. private face thing for the Russians. There were many Russian students in the department when I was in grad school, and we were friendly (one of them was a little too friendly, but that's another story.) Perhaps, with people they don't know, they don't smile.
