All weekends should be four-day weekends. Way, way too short. Though this week will be a short week too, because we're going to Florida on Friday to visit the parentals.

Thanksgiving was really quiet this year. My folks elected to stay in Florida, and that left us with few other options besides going to the Q's. On Wednesday, Dad Q called us to tell us that Mom Q was down with a cold, and that if we didn't want to go, we didn't have to. Long story short, neither husband nor I wanted to be the asshole who told his parents that they'd be alone for Thanksgiving - especially since my brother-in-law and his wife were going elsewhere - so off we went. I wasn't too thrilled about it, since I didn't want to get sick.

It was okay. We had a nice dinner, a turkey breast with all the trimmings, but it wasn't the big and crowded Thanksgiving that I would have liked as an antidote to the feeling of not having much in the way of family that my parents' move left me with. I made stuffing and sweet potatoes and pecan pie and helped with most of the other things, and it was a nice dinner, but we left right afterwards because Mom Q was wilting. Kinda depressing.

On Friday, I decided to be an idiot and go out to the mall. It wasn't too bad when I got there, and there were some deals to be had on techie toys (2GB memory card for the camera, $30!) The mall was also crowded but not overly so, and it wasn't a terrible shopping trip. Traffic was piling up by noon, though. Later we went to see Casino Royale, which was very good. Nice return to the Bond basics. Husband was very pleased with himself over product placement, which is to say that he has an Omega Seamaster watch he bought himself as a present for his degree, and James Bond has one too.

Saturday, we suited up for the Rutgers game. Rutgers football has definitely gotten more popular over the last month, and it's a good thing we know the back way into the campus and which parking lots we can put the car in for free. The Syracuse Orange were routed, and it was an emotional day for all the seniors. The end of the game was great - the team put together a drive to get Brian Leonard another TD, and then the coach prodded him into conducting the band at the end of the game in the RU alma mater.

Yesterday was a good break, and we cleaned up around the house and did laundry and went for a drive in the convertible. I made bolognese sauce with penne for dinner, and we watched an execrable Giants game wherein the Giants gave up 24 unanswered points in the fourth quarter.

This morning I had college flashbacks of dialing in for courses while trying to get someone on the phone to get season tickets for Rutgers. It's a risk, because we don't know whether we are going to be around in a year, but we could always sell them if we move on.
