Got in a car accident this morning - nothing too serious for me or the person I hit, but the car of the guy who hit me is a mess.

Luckily no citations - cop must have been in a sympathetic mood. Car's driveable, headlights work and all that, and not taking it this weekend will open up a can of worms.

We lose our "good driver discount" from State Farm, though. :P

What a way to start the weekend, eh?

Yikes. I'm glad no one was hurt. How did the accident happen?

Rt. 202 southbound morning traffic. Someone braked and I was the first unlucky one not to make it. :P

It's always tricky in those situations - you're braking hard, and watching the rearview at the same time, trying not to brake too hard and get hit by the crappy old van behind you.

So was this the car that was already scratched from the canopy?

It was all I could do to concentrate on the braking! Thank goodness for ABS.

Yep, same car, so I might tell the body shop to give me a separate estimate for taking out the scratch.

MEEP! Oh, this sucks a lot and I'm sorry, but I am SO glad you're okay. Things are replaceable but there's only one you.

I think I'd have taken this accident harder if I liked my car better. XD

Have a safe trip home yourself!

Me too! I was more annoyed than anything else, the whole thing was so "shit happens" that it was hard to be too upset.

Ugh, that definitely is not the way to start the weekend. I'm glad you're okay.

Me too. At least the car is usable. Would have made the trip home more complicated if it wasn't.

We would have lost our good driver discount (which isn't all that much) anyway, because it's whether you've been in an accident in the last three years, not whether it was your fault. And yes, I hit someone, so that's the first at-fault for me. *kri*

Eeek. I'm sorry to hear about the accident, and very glad you're all right!

It could have been worse, though--I actually managed to hit a cop car one time...

OMG. How ever did you hit a cop car? How many thousands of points did that earn you on your license?

Well, it wasn't so much 'hit' as 'bumped into'--it stalled at a traffic light, I was right behind it and had just taken my foot off the brake, and I gently rolled into it. Amazingly, I got no points off, no ticket, nothing. I turned in the forms to my insurance agency and never heard a word about it again. I'm sure I'm still paying off karma for that incident, though I did suffer a bit--I spent forty-five minutes sitting in the car in utter soul-clenching terror, totally conviced that I was going to be arrested and I'd have to call my mother and explain why I needed bail money.

Anyway, as I said, I'm glad you're all right--and I know you said you aren't fond of the car, but I'm sure these things can be a major annoyance in an 'arrgh, this is a hassle I didn't need' way, so you have my sympathies for that, too.

Surprisingly, I wasn't that rattled. I think it's because I don't like my car all that much. XD
