Here's a couple for the OMGWTF files, for otaku who don't know where to draw the line.

A girl who thinks she's Ganondorf's wife. Her makeup is beyond scary.

Two courtesy of [livejournal.com profile] sailormac:

1. A girl who thinks she is married to Sephiroth on the Astral Plane here, from [livejournal.com profile] rabidfanssuck. The tee-hee'ing over their wedding night had me holding my head.

2. A girl who was married to Ryou Bakura here. They also had children.

What is the deal here? And moreover, why are there comments from friends affirming how beautiful their pseudorelationships are? Guys, I know that we all have our fangirl moments, but if any of you started doing this, I'd tell you right to your face that you need some help instead of saying how happy I was for you.

That Ganondorf's Wife thing is scary as fuck. Ganondorf is w00t and all, and I fully understand thinking that he is TEH SEX (hell, the now-dead Fametracker boards had an entire thread on cartoon character crushes), but there's a difference between that and being freakily obsessed with the character. And why the frick did she dress him up as TINGLE? The biggest badass of the series cosplaying an annoying little bastage who makes the short bus look like the bus to gifted school? She even bothered to draw his abs through the Tingle suit. AGH! DOES NOT COMPUTE! DOES NOT COMPUTE! *asplodey*

Who is Tingle? Is that a Zelda character? I guess I can understand in Freako Logic why dressing up the Badass as the Weenie is fun - kind of ties into the whole "why do mpregs exist" thing.

Yes, Tingle is a Zelda character. To be precise, he's an elf who acts like a very "special" five-year-old. If you remember the Jakovasaur episode of South Park...Tingle's exclamations sound a lot like that "Doooooo-woop!" He first appears in Majora's Mask, where he isn't so bad (he sells you maps for a reasonable price), but he gets to be more of a pain in your ass as the series goes on. In Wind Waker, you have to raise umpty bazillion rupees to pay him to interpret maps for you. In Four Swords, he keeps showing up to try to steal Force Gems. (At least you can beat on him with weapons and he goes away temporarily. That's fun.)

Here is a picture from Wind Waker. You may have to C&P the URL. I guess there are worse weenies to dress Ganondorf up as, but Tingle's voice is so annoying it has to be heard to be believed. Dooooo-woop!

Tingle-wingle-koooloo-limpah!

Correct me if I'm wrong, but Ganondorf wasn't even married to any of the Gerudo, at least not in Ocarina. And anyone knows he's got a boner for either Zelda or Link (or both!), depending on which way your fanfic swings. "You don't understand these grown-up things, but you should probably deliver the Vaseline to Ganondorf's castle anyway."

You're better than me. I would just stop talking to anybody that far removed from reality. I'd be too scared that they would start trying to settle arguments Looney Tunes style.

Me too. People like that are much better avoided than associated with in any way. If they're that far removed from the real world, who knows which way their delusions will swing next? AXE MURDERER WARNING!!!!

hmmm...if it is crazy to believe that someone exists who doesn't, is it then also crazy to believe someone doesn't exist who does, even if they shouldn't? If so, I...am not crazy, but I am trying hard to be.

There was another post in the same vein over on Fandom Wank, about a girl who I believe was convinced that she had married Stitch, from the Lilo and Stitch movies.

I'm too lazy to look it up, but someone commented that it reminded her of the days in elementary school when girls would pretend to be married to fellow classmates, stuffed animals, family pets, etc. Of course at some point most of them eventually moved on from this, but obviously some of them didn't. And I wish I could say that these girls are just depressed teengers, but I've heard of women in their thirties acting this way as well.

On the plus side, they make for good relative gratification. It's gotten to the point where I can't even see the words 'astral plane' without snickering.

These people give all fangirls a bad name. In spite of the rampant in-jokes and crazy dreams I may have of certain characters there's no way I'd ever go around declaring so and so was mine, all mine, and no one else's. It's fun to pretend; it's a cry for help to believe it's real.

On the other hand, there are some out there who feel the only happiness they will ever achieve is through something like this. It goes both ways.

I didn't think people that weird actually existed. The dudette who thinks she's Ganondorf's wife makes me feel so normal. I'd love to finish looking at her art and cosplay pictures, but I'm afraid I'll choke in my own laughter halfway through if I give it another try. I know, I know, I'm a bad person. Can't help myself, this is just too bizarre. *bookmark* :D

It's the white lipstick that freaks me out. It's some weird ganguro wannabe face paint - I won't pretend I get it. I take it you're familiar with who Ganondorf is? I'm not, sadly.

Ganondorf (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ganon) is the big bad boss of the game Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time. In addition to being Teh Evil Man of Legend, he is the king of the Gerudo (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Legend_of_Zelda_series_races#Gerudo), who in turn are a group of red-haired females tucked away in a desert city. I'm guessing the girl thinks of herself as one, seeing that she has a lot of "My King" things scribbled over her Ganondorf pictures and her make-up resembles that of the Gerudo. Fangirling is all nice and well, but it's the "my king" and "Elena Ganondorf's Wife" things that really weird me out. :s The girl who meets Sepiroth in some astral plane of sort is mentally ill, this one is just badly obsessed and guilty of making me laugh out loud.

The freaky white lipstick is accurate to the game--my guess is that she's cosplaying Nabooru, who is second-command of the Gerudo, and totally hot despite being a collection of polygons.

I think so! Last Zelda game I played was A Link to the Past, so I'm behind the Zelda times.

Oh man, I loved loved loved that game. As buttercup0222 can attest, as I played it frequently in our room in college.

I do not recall, however, feeling any sort of emotional attachment, or even relevance, to the characters. It was just a cool game.

I certainly hope so. Though, I guess, I too would be too afriad the person would go uber-psycho on me and find out my address and...stuff...

Is it just as bad or a worse situation if the non-existent partner in question is not a pre-created character from a book/video game/anime/whatever.
