Thanks to [livejournal.com profile] sache's advice, I've now downloaded Vol. 1 of Sailor Stars. Anyone else want copies? I figure I'm going through the effort for one person; might as well make some other ppl happy too.

I have to say, though - perhaps the bar has been raised on anime, and maybe I've been spoiled, but Sailor Moon seems just a leetle bit boring. For instance, now that the Dark Mirror thingy has been destroyed, we will have long stretches where the Senshi will run around collecting Shikon shards - oh, wait, that's Inuyasha. My bad. Hmmm... every day they have to defeat a new Robeast? Oops, that's Voltron. Help me out here.

Galaxia's minions have those eternally bad villain tips, and go looking for Star Seeds in people who don't have them. Once someone has their seed (symbol for soul or heart or whatever) taken, they turn into a monster, and for whatever reason, I believe the monsters were subbed as Phlanges. Sailor Moon does some humorous pratfalls, Starlights come in to distract the monster, Sailor Moon makes it human again. The second a minion figures out, "Hey, waitasecond, I bet that Usagi girl and her friends are Senshi! I better not tell anyone!" they are dispatched.

It's good to relax your brain.

Phlanges. That's definitely a new one on me.

Definitely good to relax the brain cells. That's why I watch Trinity Blood! XD

Hee. I want to say that the minions were translated as "Phages" and are actually supposed to be "Farces" but I'm not sure. It's been about a year since I last looked at my Sailor Stars tapes. I prefer the mirror minions. Parodies.

I think the great love of Sailor Moon comes not from the overall plot, which is admittedly lacking, but for what it represents: that one mammoth of a show that introduced girls across the country to this anime thing. And, yes, the bar has definitely been raised since the days of Sailor Moon as the anime aired over ten years ago. (Though the bar comes crashing down just as quickly. Cough Trinity Blood cough.) But it was the first of its kind and at the time most of us and didn't know any better. However, it still had its great moments, and unlike Inuyasha shit did actually happen (167 episodes and no resolution AT ALL grumble grumble grumble).

The live action version, however, I straight up adore in all of it's hokey, cgi-hair induced goodness.

Heeeeey, I think Trinity Blood is stupid fun that I don't have to pay for.

I can't believe you IY fans got no love at all at the end of the series. That's nonsense.

I still watch it, but...are you up to date with all the episodes? I don't want to spoil if not but it's some of the laziest darn storytelling I've ever seen in all of my years of anime watching.

Wait, are you saying that something actually happens at the end of Inuyasha? Because I have up through episode 122 and I don't believe it's going anywhere, and I have yet to see much promise.

Whoops, by "it" I meant Trinity Blood, but never mind that. Sure, plenty of stuff happens! Inuyasha gets new attacks and Naruku new minions and....and...

No, nothing happens at all. Naruku is still at large. Kikyo's still dead. The jewel still isn't put together, Miroku still has the wind tunnel, Sango's brother is still a zombie.

And people wonder why I'm bitter about this show?

I'm journal crashing, but I had to post!

Inuyasha has no real ending? Argh! the most aggravating series in the universe ( although not as disturbing as Eva..never watch the ending before the beginning folks, or you will even more scarred for life) and it has no ending. Well, that bites my ass. As much as I hate the fillers of Inuyasha, I did like it when it progressed (which hasn't been all that much). *headdesk*

Re SailorMoon: yeah, there were plenty of fillers, but damn, when they resolved it, it was so feakin' cool.

But dammit! Inuyasha! Potential for kickass ending and it never ends. There just aren't words for how much I hate that. It's right up there with cryptic endings like freaking Wolf's Rain. There's another one that pissed me off:P

Okay, I'll stop now XD

I'm not. I kinda heard rumors about the ending, and my feeling was that I wasn't going to waste that kind of time watching IY if there was no reward at the end.

You know, say what you will about SMoon, and yes, the filler eps are BORING, once it gets to the point where everything comes down to the wire and the shit hits the fan, THAT'S when viewing is worth it. IMHO. The last five episodes of Sailor Stars consists of my favorite arc of everything ever. Episode 198 specifically.

Understood - what I need for Sailor Moon is a list of which eps to watch to get some story, and which eps follow the Sailor Formula.

<href="http://www.eternal-moon.org/">Here is a link to the Illustrated Episode Guides

That should help you choose what to watch while still letting you keep up to speed on the minor details and character development.
