there is a very big game on tonight and I know you people don't understand this but I love my team and I want them to beat those dirty old Eagles because I hate them.
it is not my fault that I am so into football because it is genetic and we have tickets and everything and we go to the game and we scream our heads off and my mother and I are very terrible yelling "GO GIANTS" and throwing peanut shells all over
and brian saw me this weekend and saw fit to remind me that the Giants were going down tonight and i want to be able to send him an email with the score in big letters because he and the other kids in the class used to write the score in huge numbers on the board when the Giants lost to the Eagles just to harass me even when my team went to the Big Dance and WON
other people spend a lot of time thinking about life and art and philosophy and I can't help that I'm thinking about football instead
it's not my fault
but it sure is fun

Date: 2001-10-23 12:11 pm (UTC)My boyfriend is a big football fan (Redskins for pro, Michigan for college), too, and we have people over every Saturday (all day!) to watch college games. We cook a ton of food, drink a ton of beer, and just hang out. It's a blast. I'm more there for the social part of it than the football, but I can always get into a good game (esp. if it's Michigan!).
A friend of ours recently gave my boyfriend a "Bad Call Brick." It's a spongey thing with the shape and color of a brick that says "BAD CALL!" on it, and he throws it at the tv when he gets mad. It's pretty useful for when the game's not going well.

I think I need one of those bricks. :)

Date: 2001-10-25 07:59 am (UTC)We're at UMich. I came here for grad school from basketball country (Lexington, Ky), and I didn't even know the rules to football until I met my boyfriend. My introductory season was the one where we won the Rose Bowl... pretty sweet. :)
