Weekend notes
Oct. 15th, 2001 10:04 amIt was a pretty nice weekend with a couple exceptions.
Friday:
Went to IKEA to get a new dresser; the old one fell apart. We got a rather impractical one that I like a lot; it's got a little knickknack shelf on top and I can put some of my puzzle boxes on it. Cleaned out some of the closets and threw away ratty clothing. We were supposed to go to the boat that night but before we knew that there was no boat trip, I dragged my heels and refused to go that night. S got really pissed off at me for wanting to stay home to chat so we had to resolve that (which we did.)
Saturday:
More house cleaning (oh fun) and marketing. Someone has to stock the fridge. S put my dresser together and we spent most of the morning and afternoon putting the apt back together. He'd repainted our bedroom and so there was displaced stuff all over. My parents invited us to dinner so we hauled down to South Jersey. We watched a movie that night and I was my usual itchy self. I do not like to sit still for movies unless it's in the theatre.
Sunday:
Church in the morning (sigh.) Interminable as usual. My mom and I went out to the mall and poked around, and I got a couple new things. We hurried home to watch the football game, and to our surprise the Giants were winning at halftime. At halftime I went to get the story I'm editing to work on it, but the game got exciting. It's quite hard to make serious edits when about every five minutes you are screaming at the TV and/or doing a dance around the room.
S went to see the USS New Jersey up in Camden, and he came back bubbling about what a big boat it was. He said he didn't realize how enormous an Iowa-class battleship was until he saw it up close. It opens today to the public, so I expect that we'll go visit it soon.
Pulled the old bow out the basement for a couple pictures. It was a lovely, nostalgic, and powerful feeling to set the bow up with all its stabilizers and the sight. Even though I didn't plan to loose an arrow, I got out the arm guard and the fingertab, and I picked through my sorry quiver of arrows for one that wasn't missing fletchings or a nock. (I had a habit of shooting nocks off the arrows like Robin Hood.) S took a few pictures, two at full draw, and just for fun I let the string roll off my fingers and the arrow sang. It took me a while to find the lost arrow in the grass, but it was worth it.
We stayed for dinner and then I made the 2-hour drive home; for some unknown reason the Turnpike was a mess and we sat in traffic for a while. At home I finally pulled out the story and worked about a quarter of the way through.
Got to give group meeting this week so it's gonna be a rotten time. :P Better get cracking...

Good to hear S perked up after the visit to the big boat... at least he kind of got on a boat this weekend. ;)
Good luck in preparing for the lab meeting ! We'll keep our fingers crossed for you, those things were always so much "fun".

Date: 2001-10-16 03:09 am (UTC)No sorry... I have only seen stills from the movie and never bothered to see the movie itself.
I have seen art from the comic though and it's ok. Not really my style but fun enough. I do have a really fun Tank Girl art work somewhere... *rummages around in old discs*
