May. 14th, 2002 10:21 amTime for a couple random bits.
Saw some road rage on my way to work this morning. It wasn't clear to me whether these two had some history already, but we were at a stoplight and there was a red Volvo station wagon who was (seemingly deliberately) slow to get on the gas pedal. The Buick behind it was laying on the horn and the Volvo inched off. The Buick swerved around the Volvo and cut him off, whereupon the Volvo took off after the Buick. (I was in the right lane and stayed out of the way.) Last I saw, the Volvo had cut the Buick off at a stoplight and put on its blinkers, then the driver got out and was all set to go scream at the driver of the Buick. I saw the Buick dodging the angry driver as I drove off.
Makes me glad that I am a fairly laid-back driver in terms of letting other people's offenses slide. You never know who has a gun these days, so I cuss with the windows up.
Am currently engaged in some sleuthing work concerning this compound we have as a potential drug. The company that is working on it is getting close to submitting it to the FDA, and they have their collective panties in a large bunch over some things. This is what happens when the information flow between MD's and chemists breaks down - the MD's don't remember our previous data and don't really understand it anyway. I have a big lump of their stuff to play with and play with it I shall.
I must pin the boss down this week about some experiments. I went ahead and ordered some amino acids for host-guest binding studies - Sigma has a nice kit available with all 20 natural AA's. Makes my life a lot easier that way, not having to order each one individually.
Aside from that I have been trying to write and steadily wearing out batteries on my portable CD player in the process. Things are coming along and I'm finally starting to see the sword coming out of the amorphous bar of metal.
Hubby has his committee meeting today for progress evaluation so I'm keeping my fingers crossed for him. He's been pulling some late nights and he deserves some rest. He'll take tomorrow off - I wish I could stay home with him, but the boss wants some text from all six of us peroxynitrite people by Friday so that will most likely be my project this week.
And that's all I have to say about that. :)
