Hokay. Ssso.

I had a fun weekend. Good times.

Husband went off to the USAF museum in Dayton OH with his father, which he was originally going to do last April. That trip didn't work out because my Ph.D. proposal was going to take place the following Monday, and I went into Full Emotional Meltdown after he left. So, instead of going to OH, he came home that time.

Anyway, since I was going to be alone all weekend, it seemed like a good idea to ask [livejournal.com profile] fadingembers to come over and hang out. And so, she did. :D

We ordered out Chinese (which [livejournal.com profile] fadingembers treated, thanks!) and watched some Chrono Crusade. That wasn't as entertaining as Coupling, and at one point during "Jane and the Truth Snake," I was almost screaming with laughter. (Can't wait to show husband that one. Jeff is the funniest character on the show.)

After that, it was Internet and Dynasty Warriors time, and by midnight my old-fart nature had caught up with me and I went to bed.

The next day we went to Mitsuwa for lunch and browsing and bought the required metric assload of Pocky. There appears to be a major renovation going on there, because most of the stores that were open when [livejournal.com profile] jaina and I went there in August are either closed or compressed into one small market. Very disappointing. Kinokuniya appears to have changed its name or changed hands or both, and the store that had all the HK stuff was gone. I wanted to look for a nagajuban, but wasn't brave enough to ask the clerks about getting one. A gaijin wuss is me.

We got back a few hours before [livejournal.com profile] jersey_phooka, [livejournal.com profile] ladyofthewood, and [livejournal.com profile] ghostfire were due to arrive for our reduced-fat Anime Night. In the meantime, [livejournal.com profile] fadingembers and [livejournal.com profile] angstymcgoth and I engaged in some three-way Internet snark and discovered that some people have far too much time on their hands. (not that we are excluded from this group, mind you.)

Before the guests arrived, we popped in some Saiyuki (*heart*) and Panyo Panyo Di Gi Charat. After they arrived, we initiated Pas into anime geekdom with a showing of "This is Otakudom," and then got dinner from Thai Kitchen. A spirited Soul Calibur II tournament sprung up in my absence, and I got my ass handed to me when I joined in. (in my paltry defense, I haven't played SCII since January. But, I think I would have gotten my ass kicked anyway.) We watched some Haibane Renmei, Pretear (chirpy Japanese schoolgirls onscreen to Shin: "What's your name?" Pas: "Saaaaaaaaaatan.") Invader Zim, and Now and Then, Here and There.

Everyone seemed to have a good time, and many thanks to my honored guests for bringing the crudité platter and the fruit, plus chips and soda. Thanks also to everyone for helping clean up. :)

[livejournal.com profile] fadingembers went home afterwards, and I had a nice hot bath in my Aveeno Stress Relief bubbles. Mmm, nice.

Watched some Samurai Champloo yesterday afternoon, and tried to watch some more Fruits Basket, but you get what you pay for with those damn HK bootlegs. The disc would not play, and it appears to have damaged the DVD player in some way, because now it won't read any disc I put in there. This does not prompt too many tears, since now I can ask for a combination VCR/DVD player for Xmas and the PS2 will serve in the interim, but it is quite irritating.

Husband came home in the afternoon, and I made him penne bolognese and brownies (note to self: use unsweetened chocolate next time), and we watched "Moonstruck" for the nth time.

And that's all for now!

Thanks for letting me hang out with you guys :) This is my Livejournal account. I'm Pas, Serena's unusually large shadow ;) Feel free to add me to your friend's list, I'll do the same (even though I don't have any private entries that I can recall, and lately all I post is babble). It's good to watch anime. I'm so busy with work and gaming and such, that I never have time to sit down to a good anime. (I used to watch it all the time when I was younger, but life got the best of me and turned me into a machine :P)

Not to sound spammy, but as you probably know, each of us have our own unique talents. Serena's the writer, Julia's the artist, and Karen sorta dabbles in both fields. I'm the musician of the bunch. I used to do Video game music but now I've been working on music that could work in movies, or just fun songs. I usually post links of my music on my LJ, but the site is http://www.scarboni.com/~zino (although most of my newer songs are not posted on the website because of laziness) I apologize if this is the wrong place to share my url, but I think you would enjoy some of my piano work.

Take care :)

Hey, nice to hear from you. I'm glad you had a good time at Anime Night! It is fun to watch it all together and share new series - gives you an idea of what's worth further attention and what isn't without having to spend money on the first DVD. I have them a couple times a year, so you'll probably hear about another one before the winter is out.

Thanks for the link! It's neat that your bunch has their own artistic talents - lord knows I don't have many. Anyway, I'll friend you back, and hope you can come to the next gathering! ;)
