It might be about that time of year again, or else Halloween is inspiring me, because the old itch to put together a new cosplay is back. Maybe it was that fun convo with [livejournal.com profile] fireceremony about Samurai Champloo and how she'd be a perfect Jin and how I'd been thinking of putting together something for Fuu anyway. My pink kimono would work well, but there's that creativity aspect of making it just so with the flowers stencilled onto the sleeves. But oh how fun it would be to get a big boufy hairpiece and work all that out.

The other potential cosplay that's bugging me would be Sister Rosette Christopher from Chrono Crusade (her nun's habit, not the slit-up-the-leg thing, which would make ppl run in terror from my out-of-shape legs.) The costume looks comfortable and fun, and not too common yet. It would be the most complex work to date, but it would be fun to pose with the guns as props.

Of course, it might be nice to get started on Annette's quilt for her baby boy. Argh! Someday we'll have a real house, or a larger apartment, and I can leave my machine set up for when these whims strike!

JoAnn's is as good a starting place as any. While they may not directly offer sewing lessons, they may well have a place for postings where you can find someone who will teach you. Make sure you find out whether a machine is required or not. I took lessons in middle school, and haven't had a lesson since, so it's not necessary to have a ton of skill to make something serviceable. :)
