I read on CNN today that one of the unfortunates killed by Charley had stepped out for a smoke amid the hurricane-force winds.

Bad, bad judgement and timing for a nic fit.

Anyway.

We went to the game last night, and Friday the 13th was in full effect, because Ron "Fatboy" Dayne scored twice and the Chiefs did nothing but incur penalties in the second half. Usually it's the Giants who give up the game on penalty yardage.

Both QBs got some game time. Warner is obviously more seasoned, but he seemed a tad unstable. Manning gets rid of the ball, one two gone, but the O-line still seems to have issues with effective blocking, and he got dumped on his butt a couple times. I'll reserve my judgement on whether he's worth the money when he's had his bell rung once or twice in the regular season.

Note to Eli: Please, please find something less wussy to do with your left hand when you're throwing. You know what I'm talking about.

It was so sparse that husband and Jeff and I stayed to the end of the game, and it turned out to be more interesting than I'd expected. The Jints were down by 14 in the early part of the game, and they rallied and pitched in a couple TDs and won. Of course, KC must have had close to 20 penalties in the second half, so we'll see how they look next week.

You know, it always bugged me- why are they called the "New York" Giants if they play in New Jersey now? (...er, to be fair, I'll leave aside the traditional answer of one who was raised near The City...)

And offtopic, but I usually consider Friday the 13th a very lucky day!

It's a fair question - a lot of the time, you'll hear the NY Giants referred to as just the Giants, because as far as NJ is concerned, it ought to be the NJ Giants. Me, I don't think it has quite the same ring to it.

*grins* Friday the 13th may be unlucky or lucky, but we felt that it might explain some of the weirdness going on down on the field.
