Allow me a moment to gloat because I finally got a copy of Skies of Eden.
*GLOAT*
We had a quiet weekend with the inlaws. I had Friday off but husband didn't, though he did decide to take a half-day. Should have taken the full day, because we sat in a good amount of PA shore traffic. Annoying.
Once we got there, Mom Q kidnapped me for most of the weekend and we worked on Melissa's quilt. We got a lot done, but it was frustrating from time to time because I think Mom is used to dealing with students who have seen more quilts than I have. She would ask me how I wanted the quilt to look, and my response tended to be "what are my options?" It's almost done now; just have to do an assload of slipstitching to secure the binding to the back.
I had a very nice visit on Saturday with
irenak, and we spent most of the time not talking about anime, it seemed. It's always nice when anime isn't the only thing you have in common with someone. Afterwards, the idea was dinner and a movie, but all of a sudden Mom Q got tired and we waited for her for about 45 minutes. So dinner and no movie.
On the Fourth, it was mostly quilting and a fast trip to the A. C. Moore because we ran out of yarn. I was amazed it was open on the 4th, but there you go. They have a wealth of Hello Kitty goodies there, and I picked up a HK contact lens case and cell phone holder. We went to the fireworks at Radnor High School, and Dad Q packed a nice picnic for us before the show. We sat very close to the source of the fireworks, and it ended up being the most interactive show I'd ever seen, in that we were pelted with ash. Husband got some in his eye, poor thing.
Monday we went to the Broomall Hokey Hometown Parade, which was fun and corny all at the same time. There were the requisite church-oriented floats, the Republican and Democrat floats, the Armed Forces parades, etc. In previous years, fire companies from all over sent vintage and current fire trucks for the parade, but this year there were only three companies. It was a disappointment, since the whole reason I wanted to go to the parade at all was to see the fire trucks. We left after lunch, and frankly it was time to go home. Husband must have felt so too, because he didn't drag his feet as per the usual.
Spent last night alternately watching "Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back" and cutting pattern pieces for the Tenten outfit. Doubt I'll get that one done before Otakon, but here's trying. It would be great to bring the machine to Maine if it weren't so damn big.
This week: Pack, pack, pack.

I don't know what happened with Honey Blood--the auction was pulled early. Lame!
