I watched "Voices of a Distant Star" the other morning, and finally got around to "She and Her Cat" last night. Every cat person should see "She and Her Cat." It is so sweet. It sums up everything wonderful about having a cat - the cat loves Her. Unconditionally and completely. She is the cat's goddess, and he is her staunch companion. (god. I'm getting all weepy just thinking about it.)

*sniffle* I want a kitty.

I've never heard of "She and Her Cat". Is this an anime, or other genre? Either way, it sounds like something I would enjoy very much, being the cat person that I am.

"She and Her Cat" is a short animated piece that's included in the extras of "Voices of a Distant Star." Anime, of course. I'd definitely recommend picking up a copy, even though there isn't that much on the DVD.

Actually, no - there aren't any of the original cast members left. I guess it is sort of realistic that way, since you'd expect some job turnover in a DA's office! ^_^

Yeah, but there's hardly a show on television that someone isn't writing some kind of smut for. It doesn't even matter what the show's about. Let's not forget that Digimon yaoi is apparently a huge genre. *shudder*

...um, maybe this is not a good time to mention that someone did write Bible slash. It was up on FF.net (where else?) I've seen it. (thankfully, looking at a summary does not constitute reading it... just sick..)

Ooh, thanks. I will definitely have to check out that link when I'm back at work on a fast connection. It's so amazing that he put the whole thing together on his computer. Creative and talented people awe me.

I especially love the scene where She's crying, and the cat is there next to Her, not really doing anything, but just being there. My own cats have done that a few times for me, too. Cats are quite good at telling when you're sick or hurting.

They are, they are! *sniffle* Grad school was nothing but suck, and so often during the first two years I'd come home sad and depressed, and every night I'd get the cats... Siasia or Rudy would always, always come in to sit on my lap if I was crying. It was uncanny, and just what I love about cats... with a dog, you know the dog wants to be there because dogs love people, but cats make a conscious choice about who they like and who they don't. It may not seem rational, but to the cat it is.

Anyway, I'm rambling. Many thanks for tipping me off to the DVD.

Indeed. So very, very true. Cat personalities are just as individual as human personalities. Target, for example, is not an easygoing cat. He is Mama's boy, or at least he thinks so, and is affectionate only to me. He tolerated electrochem when we were dating, but to everyone else, he hisses and sometimes picks fights. He especially likes to pick fights with my mom, for whatever reason. The cat just does not like her. He will at least try to play with my dad, but still won't let Dad touch him. Zoe, otoh, is a bit skittish but will warm up to you once she realizes you are a friend of mommy's.

I checked animeondvd.com for a review of VoaDS and it looks like a worthwhile pickup. It's double Replay points at Suncoast this weekend, plus anime bonus points, so I may pick it up if it's not too pricey--if below retail, I'm getting it. But no matter what, it's made its way up fast to the top of my "to buy list". I just splurged on Right Stuf's Tokyopop summer blowout...but when you can get GTO new for $20, including shipping, that's too good to pass up!

What did you make of the calendar and the thermometer in the middle of "She and her cat"?

I really liked "She and her cat", the shot where the cat sits on the belly of his owner and little hearts are coming out of his head, so cute ! :))

You know, I put that part on pause and had a good look at it. It does hint heavily that she might be pregnant, though I can't 100% tell whether that is a thermometer or not. It would be a good reason to cry for a long time, that I'll say...

You made me go out and buy this DVD, if only to see She and Her Cat.

Is the scene in question the one right as part 5 begins? I took a look at the scene and I noticed the calendar said December, and the rest of the objects on the table just looked like office supplies to me, except for that one that's not quite all on the screen.

If I've completely missed the mark here I'll go back and look again.

That was a really endearing film. I wish there were more! VoaDS was really good as well--the music completely took me away--I noticed that the pacing of the Cat short and the other feature were very similar. I can't wait to see more from Makoto Shinkai.

Me too, it really did capture the love a kitty shows you. A very cute scene. :) We miss our kitties deeply.
