Okay! All three of you who read my journal, fill out and enjoy.

1. What is/are the quintessential 80's movie(s)?

3. Songs?

4. Videos? Remember when MTV actually played videos instead of endless repeats of "The Real World?"

5. TV shows?

6. Did you have big hair? A mohawk? Acid-wash jeans?

7. How about roller skates? ("All-skate, change directions!") A hula hoop? Those stretchy telephone-cord things everyone wore? The stacks of bangles that drove teachers mad?

Hmm - will you accept partial answers that are also personal? Meaning: my answers will be given purely from personal, not the entire decade's quintessential perspective.

- The Dark Crystal
- Labyrinth
- Amadeus
- ET
- The Last Emperor

2. Bands?
- Hanoi Rocks
- AC/DC
- Meatloaf (okay, I deserve to be pureed for that)
- A-ha (couldn't really avoid them in Scandinavia!)
- Duran Duran

3. Songs?
- Thriller by Michael Jackson
- Hungry like a wolf by Duran Duran
- Ashes to Ashes by David Bowie (still gives me goosebumps)
- Time after Time by Cindy Lauper (loved the video too)

4. Videos? Remember when MTV actually played videos instead of endless repeats of "The Real World?"
- Time after Time (see above *g*)
- Arghh...too many visual memories, not enough names here. Sorry. Like for instance - what the hell was that Peter Gabriel video called with the dancing chicken?

5. TV shows?
- Dallas and Dynasty! (not that I really followed them) - now if that's not 80's...
- Knight Rider
- Battlestar Galactica (never missed an episode!)
- The Muppet Show

6. Did you have big hair? A mohawk? Acid-wash jeans?
- I had...(os gaaawd, do I /have to/ confess to this?)...permed, big, blond hair. There. Hope you're happy now.

7. How about roller skates? ("All-skate, change directions!") A hula hoop? Those stretchy telephone-cord things everyone wore? The stacks of bangles that drove teachers mad?

- Had those thin bangles on both arms, plus a flimsy shiffon scarf tied to my neck. *shudder* (thanks for this. Now I'll have nightmares).

- Also had a denim jacket with a Hanoi Rocks logo emblazoned on the back. I think I thought I looked cool.

lol, how could I forget ET? Well, I do admit that I was about six when I saw it, and I cried through the whole thing. :)

"Sledgehammer" was the name of the video. Peter Gabriel was one of the most innovative artists in terms of visual effects in his videos. I also remember "Digging in the Dirt" and "Steam" as being ahead of their time visually.
