Okay! All three of you who read my journal, fill out and enjoy.

1. What is/are the quintessential 80's movie(s)?

2. Bands?

3. Songs?

4. Videos? Remember when MTV actually played videos instead of endless repeats of "The Real World?"

5. TV shows?

6. Did you have big hair? A mohawk? Acid-wash jeans?

7. How about roller skates? ("All-skate, change directions!") A hula hoop? Those stretchy telephone-cord things everyone wore? The stacks of bangles that drove teachers mad?

I'll post my own answers in a comment. :)

Basically the singles released by the bands I mentioned and by others sum up the 80s for me...

the Fame theme was one of them... definitely...

>4. Videos? Remember when MTV actually played
>videos instead of endless repeats of "The Real
>World?"

Money for Nothing
The Communards' one big hit (title=?)

>5. TV shows?

What more ?

>6. Did you have big hair? A mohawk? Acid-wash
>jeans?

Yes I had big hair... and acid wash jeans and pink sweaters and glitter make up and white lip stick ! lol
oh the horror, the horror !

>7. How about roller skates? ("All-skate, change
>directions!") A hula hoop? Those stretchy

Stacks of bangles, chiffon things in hair, pink gloves, telephone cord key chain X_X, but no hula hoop or roller skates... huge loopy ear rings, very ugly looking low cut boots, white jeans and jacket and white boots... X_X...

don't make me remember. Now I know why wearing all white looks slightly perverse to me.

16 Candles. Molly Ringwald's shining moment. Never saw "Carrie," but the book was great!

>Yes I had big hair... and acid wash jeans and pink sweaters and glitter make up and white lip >stick ! lol oh the horror, the horror !

*laughs* Yes, but we all need to thank God that we are where we are today, and you can't do that without remembering your embarrassing past.

>don't make me remember.

I just did! ;)

Oh! Oh!

I forgot to mention the "Cherry Pie" and "California Girls" videos... I giggle uncontrolably every time I see them. *grin*

How could I have forgotten Ferris Bueller's Day Off?! It's a favorite. As are the Mad Max flicks. Evil, just evil, my mind...

Good thing you mentioned Back to the Future, that was also very (end) 80's !

*reads other responses and quickly makes a note to buy Labyrinth on DVD* It's sad that I should need a reminder of David Bowie in a dream outfit...

Every once in a while, I need to watch the Back to the Future movies. It's just one of those things. Luckily TBS plays it so often, there's not much need to rent. *grin* The shoes, it's the shoes! Alright, and everything else. Just one of those great movies with some pretty good sequels. Don't find that often.

You're right about that... BttF is one of the few movies that comes to mind that actually had decen sequels that made sense with the time travel an everything. It's rare...

Oh I agree with your comment to the previous thread... girl girls can be such a pain in the b¤#" when you grow up.

Scary thing is, I can honestly say Back to the Future inspired me to research things like the space-time continuum (it's too early to spell), alternate dimensions, the multiverse, etc. See, a movie with a point for some of us. *grin*

Girl girls are still a pain in the royal seat... but they've become much easier to deal with.
