The 80's poll

Okay! All three of you who read my journal, fill out and enjoy.

1. What is/are the quintessential 80's movie(s)?

2. Bands?

3. Songs?

4. Videos? Remember when MTV actually played videos instead of endless repeats of "The Real World?"

5. TV shows?

6. Did you have big hair? A mohawk? Acid-wash jeans?

7. How about roller skates? ("All-skate, change directions!") A hula hoop? Those stretchy telephone-cord things everyone wore? The stacks of bangles that drove teachers mad?

1. Best movies: "The Breakfast Club," "Ferris Bueller's Day Off," and... "Better off Dead!"

All together now... "Frahnch Fries, Frahnch bread, Frahnch dressing... and to drink, Perroo!"

"Two dollars! I want my two dollars!"

And in the immortal words of Ferris Bueller: "Life moves pretty fast. If you don't stop and look around once in a while, you could miss it." also "It's stupid and immature, but so is high school."

2. Bands: hair metal like Skid Row and Def Leppard! Also Duran Duran, Heart, Adam Ant, Cyndi Lauper! Madonna back when she was actually good! The Go-Go's and later, Belinda Carlisle!

3. "Shout" by Tears for Fears. "Girls Just Wanna Have Fun" by Cyndi Lauper. "Rio" by Duran Duran.

4. My faves: "True Colors" by Cyndi Lauper (who could forget that newspaper dress?) "These Dreams" by Heart (great imagery for the fantasy addict.) "Land of Confusion" by Genesis (great puppets; remember Ronnie Reagan and the gorilla?)

5. The Dukes of Hazzard. Bar none. I wanted to be Daisy Duke.

6. I had big hair, but not as big as some! I had a charm necklace, and acid wash jeans, and a pair of Reeboks! Anyone else remember Bobos (slang name for Converse sneakers?) and leg warmers a la "Flashdance?"

7. Yeah, I had all those too. And I went to the roller rink a lot. Ha!
