Because I am a nerd and an otaku, I went poking around on the web for Trigun cosplays. After finding this link, I have a new appreciation for the master cosplayers:

Vash Cosplay

Why? Because these ladies built the costume from the bottom up. They have the skill and the expertise to make a pattern from scratch, and to recognize what kind of a technique is required to create a certain effect. I'm nothing short of awed. I mean... I busted my ass to make that Amalthea dress, but it's decidedly amateur next to something like this.

And - considering how much effort it took me to make that Amalthea dress, I can't even imagine how much time it took to conceptualize, design, and sew something as accurate as this version of Vash's coat.

Geez. When I see something like this, I'm alternately amazed that there are people this talented, and jealous that I'm not one of them! ^_^

You can't be a master at everything! I think you have a nice balance of talents. I'm jealous of you! ^_^

Wow! That is quite impressive...

Speaking of Trigun, the MangaProject site currently has the complete first volume of Trigun available on their front page. Other volumes are available, too, I'm sure, but you have to dig around on IRC for them. (I was digging around there today for more Karekano, since my usual source's FTP site is down....but to no avail. My interest has been rekindled after watching the first ten episodes during my recent vacation!).

Veery nice Vash cosplay ! Very detailed and correct coat and with the boots to match ! Cool !

>The duster is a straight-front coat that closes with a zipper that starts at the waist and ends at the black inner collar. Over this, the bib is attached by snaps. The decorative belt and side straps attach at the >waistline buttons.

This is the way the majority of the Vash coats we saw seemed to have been made too.
