To paraphrase Dave Barry:

"If I had to sum up in one word why the human race has not realized its full potential, that word would be: Meetings."

Painful. At least we got dinner. Whoever thought up these supergroup meetings should be taken out into the street and shot without trial.

Oo! Oo! Can I make a few suggestions of my own for the firing squad?

Meetings should last one hour, an hour and fifteen minutes tops. After that all you are doing is wasting peoples time.

Sure, I'm taking suggestions. We'll get them all over with at once.

I'm absolutely done at one hour, unless the speaker is really interesting, and there are very few of those. You're right about timing, though. I read somewhere that a human being has an average concentrated attention span of about an hour, and tends to turn off after that unless the topic changes. Works for me.

I've read the average attention span is closer to 15-20 mins... which makes 45 min max meetings and classes more sense to me...

It never hurts to be efficient. ;)

Personally, I'd say my attention span is about 30 seconds. *grin* But like most things, I'm sure it depends on the person, and the research study just shows an average.

45 minutes for a class sounds about right to me. Long enough to teach something; short enough to not be too painful.
