May. 10th, 2001 04:38 pmGuess I never did get to finish my story last time. Oh well. The long and the short of it is that I will be able to participate in the poster session, but only because my adv. threw me a bone. By the time he got back to me to tell me that I could submit an abstract, I was so upset over the whole thing that it meant very little.
It's difficult to work in a group where you are completely intimidated by your advisor. I'm not stupid, but I'm rusty in a few areas, and what's left of my composure flees when I speak with him. It should be a growing experience or something that shows me where I am lacking... well, maybe it's time to drag out the old notes and remind myself of all those neurons that have forgotten they're connected.
Had a chat with the secretary here as well. She and I both have the same trouble with the bossman, and we've been talking together about getting help for depression. I'm not sure where the depression starts and the laziness begins with me, but she said that the antidepressant she was taking helped a lot and was quite mild. Perhaps it's time to head to the MD so the funk I'm in can be put to rest.

Well, anyway, other than that things are pretty much all right. Recent upheavals have quieted down, though the motives involved are completely sketchy and probably a cover-up. It doesn't matter anyway, I have more important things to worry about.
Like my poor dumb comp that either got a virus or was screwed up by yours truly. It has lain dead on my desk for 10 days now, despite an imploring email and talk with the comp guy to please please please help me come and fix it. It drives me nuts to see the other computer-owning members of the lab tapping away merrily on their computers while mine sits sadly idle with the Win 98 startup disk for brains. Also, my friend found himself a Legend of Zelda emulator, and this game was my absolute favorite growing up. I'm itching to play but alas, it will have to wait. Wonder if I can find Adventure of Link...
Irish class tonight. I don't think we will be meeting for a while after this evening because our host, Doreen, is very very pregnant and will probably deliver within the next two weeks. A newborn and classes just don't mix.
Can't think of anything else interesting to write so I will close. *sigh* Wish the comp was working, dammit dammit dammit.

Date: 2001-05-10 02:21 pm (UTC)As soon as your computer is back up, I can get you any Adventure of Zelda game you want. Just tell me which ones you want, and I'll get them sorted for you.
Irish classes? May I ask what you do in them?

Date: 2001-05-10 02:53 pm (UTC)And, maybe you could try taking St. John's Wort. No prescription required, since it is a herb.
But I suspect the best cure would be if bossman wasn't such a moron...
Anyway, I hope your poster session goes well. Don't let the bossman's indifference sour your work. Now that you have your chance, just forget about his BS.
:) :) :) :) :) <== Lots of these.

Date: 2001-05-10 03:25 pm (UTC)What do we do in Irish class? Learn the Irish language, mostly (i.e. Irish Gaelic) though there are liberal cookies involved. It's fun and it keeps me entertained on Thursdays.
