YOU GUYS, I'M GOING TO TAKE ARCHERY LESSONS AGAIN I'M SO EXCITED

I'm going next Friday to have my shot technique evaluated to determine whether I have to get busted back down to the beginner class or whether I can start back at intermediate.

Also, the current jones for Real Ghostbusters is making me want to do Science, which is probably a good thing because that's my job.

Archery!
Awesome!

I'd love to learn how to actually, really shoot, as opposed to lobbing wobbly, nerf-padded arrows at people.

(Although shooting at actual people instead of targets has a certain appeal all it's own ^_^!)

Oh, so cool! I hope you have fun.

Unfortunately the only lesson I took away from my archery days was "keep your bow arm out of the way of the bowstring, idiot"--and even that one took a few spectacular bruises to sink in.

Archery is one of the three core events of the Zombie Apocalypse Triathlon- go for it!

It's been sixteen years, but I'm so looking forward to shooting again. :D

It's a very meditative sport - the accuracy of your shot depends on how well you can focus and hold the bow steady until you release. Very good for upper body workout.

They didn't give you an arm guard? Usually you wear a metal-laced pad on your holding arm in case your arm gets slapped. That sucks!

I had read that bows aren't that effective against the living dead! To kill a zombie, you have to destroy the brain, and an arrow won't do that.

We had arm guards, but they were tiny cheap leather things (mine barely covered half the length of my forearm), so everyone got smacked on the arm at least a couple of times. Possibly the instructors secretly subscribed to the "better learning through pain" philosophy!

See now, I'm not sure this is based on experimental evidence. A well-aimed arrow could in theory damage the brain and destroy vital connections- further study is clearly needed.

However, if the zombie apocalypse ever becomes an issue, I think these arrows would do the job.

They are good against sewer monsters, though.

Go for it! 16 years is a log time to be out of something though. I guess you'll need the practice!

I only did archery once as a try-out, didn't keep it up for lack of time to do everything, but it really was fun.

16 years is a long time, but I don't think I'll need to be taught how to hold the bow again. :)

Archery is a very Zen sport - challenging, but not necessarily stressful.
