It's a two-pronged problem here in New Jersey - first, the urban sprawl just doesn't stop, and the deer have nowhere to live besides next to the highway and in your garden. Second, they have no natural predators, so the herds are out of control. It's very common to see a doe with twins or even triplets. In rutting season, there's a fresh kill almost every day, and in the summer, there are carcasses rotting everywhere. Most people I know have hit at least one deer, including myself. I say, let's bring back the wolves. The children will just have to learn to run faster.
