Weekend notes
Oct. 29th, 2001 11:32 amBusy weekend. Sad. Happy.
Friday:
Went into Hoboken to visit my cousin before he left for Denver. We made it into Hoboken this time with a minimum of "adventures," unlike last time when we damn near made it onto the George Washington Bridge (turned around fast after that, you bet.) The approach to Hoboken took us parallel to Manhattan, and the city was just gorgeous all lit up. There was still that gaping hole in the skyline. The Towers still aren't there.
We visited for a while with him and his g/f and roommates. It was a quiet party, and I spent some time talking to C and K; they're going to have a real test of the relationship. He's out in Colorado now, and it makes me very sad.
Chatted on Friday.
I think I'll be keeping my thoughts on chat to the people who want to discuss them.
Saturday:
Totally wiped out. Got about 3 hr sleep because we had to be up to help our friends M & T move from Philly to Bordentown. We got there at 9 AM, loaded the truck, unloaded the truck, unpacked a few things, and we were done around 5 PM. The boys went off to return the truck and T and I had a nice talk for about two hours until they came back. That's the way I prefer interactions - one on one, just a personal chat with a lot of questions and laughs. She's anxious to have someone to play with on the occasional weekend and we're a lot closer geographically now.
Drove to S's parents' house half-asleep. How I made it safely, I will never know.
Sunday: Wine pressing with the in-laws and family. I didn't do any pressing; I don't like being outside and cold, so I spent the afternoon baking bread. Had a nice chat with S's cousin's wife about the possibility of patent law. Rather a departure but it would get me out of the lab and give me the chance to do something literary. We shall see.
Long long day with an enormous feast at the end of it; polenta, stew, green beans, fried peppers, foccacia, salad. S got to drive home that time.
Stupid Giants lost.
BIG KUDOS to the Saints for handing the Rams their first loss of the year. See, LordRaziel, you gotta have FAITH! :) At least YOUR team can come back from a deficit, unlike some we know....
That's about all. Rant upcoming later on all the stupid crap people are selling to cash in on the WTC disaster.
