moonwisebuhh... not feeling too good after lunch. I ate too much.
It's been a frustrating day or so. They've been doing construction for the nth time out on the road next to the chem department, and the liquid nitrogen truck couldn't get into the loading dock to get to the tank. As a result...
no house nitrogen
no mass spectrometry
no NMR spectra because they can't cool the magnet
Grrr... I needed to do some spectra. Can't they leave this campus alone for two frigging minutes? Every year there's some new project that tears up a road or something. The fountain next door hasn't run for a while now because they want to expand the WoodyWoo building underneath it.
*grumpy*
I guess I'll spend some more time in the library...
And here's a fun story for those of you who have ever had trouble with paper-pushing morons.
We bought a screamingly expensive new color printer. It arrived yesterday and it was unpacked with due haste - only to turn out to be the wrong one. It hasn't got the Ethernet card it was supposed to, and the printer lacked other special features we'd ordered in the more expensive version we actually wanted. So a lot of fingers got pointed, and eventually the chain of blame led to the person in Purchasing who places the order.
No one in Chemistry had made a mistake. We picked the right one, and our person here tagged the order correctly as being over a certain amount. However, the mental midget who expedited it saw the order form and noticed that the printer was a 4000 series instead of a 4000N series (or sth like that). All the signs were there that the 4000N was the one we wanted - the mark for a certain price, the networking of the department, etc. However, instead of CALLING us to check that he had the right printer, this idiot just shrugged and said (later) "I figured you wanted the N series but..." (of course he ordered the wrong one.) And we got charged for the N series (higher price) and now there is a whole mess over returning the unwanted printer and getting the right one.
