moonwise1. Peracetic acid is a commonly used bactericide and sporicide suitable for food contact surfaces.
2. We have plenty of peracetic acid in the lab.
3. There are lots of bacteria and spores and crud growing in my water bottle with the Festering Lemon in it.
4. Therefore, when I dispose of the Festering Lemon Science Project, I may treat the bottle with some peracetic acid, possibly enabling me to use the water bottle again without dying of food poisoning.
