After staying late most nights this week and eating an obscene amount of Starbursts out of nervous tension-

The group meeting is over and done with. And I didn't get ripped a new one, if you know what I mean. The Big Man got very excited over an NMR spectrum that looked like one rotational isomer rather than four, and he barely paid attention to me fumbling through the rest of the talk. I loathe public speaking.

Finally, finally can start writing in the evenings again. *happy*

Which should make certain people very happy if they would stop chewing on their dog tags. :)

MMmm...starbursts. Although does eating stuff like that during times of intense nervous tension ruin them for you during non-stressed times? (I suppose if it does, there are always Smarties!)

I stayed up all night once in college the night before a paper was due, and ruined Simon and Garfunkel's Greatest Hits for myself. Whenever I have to make myself sit and work on something, I pull down a stack of cds, and listen to them one after another while I'm working, and only allow myself to move from the chair briefly in between cds. When the stack is finished, I can take a longer break. I had gotten to the end of a stack, and it was nearing 4am. Writing was slow and panic was setting in, and I didn't think I had time for more breaks, so I just put the last cd on repeat for the rest of the night: Simon and Garfunkel's Greatest Hits. It's a pretty short disc (or so it seemed), and I remember my stomach churning with stress every time "Bridge Over Troubled Water" played again, thinking oh my god, I'm never going to get this done in time!! Ultimately, I did squeeze the paper out, but I didn't listen to that cd for a year or so. Even now, "Bridge Over Troubled Water" reminds me of staying up and writing that goddamned paper. Ughhh...

Anyway, congrats on finishing your group meeting! :)

Good to hear the meeting went well and that bossman was happy. A happy bossman is a happy student. Looks like he's finally beginning to acknowledge some of your hard work.

And the dig tag chewer will be pleased now too. :)

I am a nervous eater, yes, though I did have something of a bellyache after all that candy. (bleacch)

LOL! I know what you mean about the CD's - in college I'd do the same thing for papers and lab reports. So there's me, sitting at the computer or the desk, getting progressively more panicked as the songs roll by, counting out exactly how much time I've wasted. It's a sinking feeling. ;)

Thanks! It's always nice when the bossman doesn't rip me a new asshole in front of the group. Which has happened.
