HOW'S ABOUT STEM CELL RESEARCH, BIG BOY?

Also, special message from me to you: I already know Social Security is fucked. Making Social Security private is kind of like handing a bunch of slot machine-addicted seniors a bucket of quarters and saying "Here! Make your retirement out of this!" I already expect to carry your generation on my back. Don't add insult to injury.

Do the paradox mambo

I'm embarrassed to admit, I forgot it was tonight and had a group meeting, so I went and tracked down some transcripts/ articles. My personal favorite, from an NYT article:

"He said tax cuts enacted in recent years should be made permanent to promote a level of prosperity and make it possible to trim federal budget deficits."

...What the Faraday?!?!

Personally, I'd like to know where he's planning to get the THREE TRILLION DOLLARS it's going to take to even change Social Security. I mean, if we supposedly HAVE TRILLIONS AND TRILLIONS DOLLARS TO BE THROWING AWAY LIKE THAT, why the fuck do we have a SIX TRILLION DOLLAR NATIONAL DEBT. I WOULD THINK WE SHOULD PAY THAT OFF FIRST.

(Orat least do something about the astronomical prices for education and health. But that would make too much sense.)

I’m just cringing in anticipation of some nut in the Liberal Party here taking up the idea. Probably not possible to do it here, but you never know...they do have control of both houses.

Then how do you fix the problem? Everyone sees it but no one is willing to do anything about it. At least he is willing to give it a shot. No offense to you personally, but I get tired of the talking heads on TV who always put down other people's ideas but don't come up with anyting constructive of their own.

I believe that President Bush is in favor of stem cell research, just not the kind that requires the destruction of a fetus. I also believe (but you are much smarter in this than I am) that we have a lot to learn from the stem cell research that we are doing now.
