Gotta get out of the lab for a while. Someone is using the sonicator, which is a machine that (basically) buzzes at a very high frequency - like right on the edge of your hearing. It's a great recipe for a headache.

Been busy the last week or so. Work has picked up a bit, and I anticipate more grill sessions with the Big Boss Man. Most of the time, all I want to do is stuff my head into my pillow and forget about it. I also opened my big mouth and volunteered to run the third-year seminars, which is a little lecture series given by the third-year grad students. It's not onerous but it does further bust up my Fridays.

This week should be a little more fun, though. Irish class begins again this week (note to self: do homework) and we will all be very happy for our instructor, who should have his Ph. D. by then. Over the weekend, we might go to the Atlantic City boat show. Not sure. I want to go home to learn more about PowerPoint from my dad, who is an absolute whiz. At the end of March I have to go to Bristol-Myers Squibb to give a presentation, so I want it to look professional. Tonight I'm gonna bake some biscotti.

Had a busy weekend; Steve and I went up to New York State near the Mass./Conn. border to visit my aunt. We all went skiing, and I was far less thrilled with the sport than my husband. A run or two down the bunny slope after a lesson, and then I'd had enough. My husband was a little more experienced than I, so he went off exploring some of the more advanced trails while I was snoozing in the lodge. Water sports are definitely more my thing. It was nice to spend some time with my aunt, since I'm less acquainted with my dad's side of the family than my mom's side. Usually we only see one another on holidays, and that didn't even happen this year because we got a flat tire on the way to my grandparents' house.

Wish I had something deep and thoughtful to say right now, but I don't. I'm quite tired and I'd really like to sneak off to the library for a nap. I'd also like to start the next chapter of my fic, but then I'd be asleep in the chair.
