I love animals too, and it does bother me as well that they're used for experiments... The problem with using inmates is that 1. they have lawyers and 2. there aren't enough of them. Mice reproduce a whole lot faster than humans and they're used for about 90% of testing along with rats. Considering that people consider mice to be vermin and exterminate them anyway, along with feeding them to snakes and such, I have a hard time rallying for them.
Yeah, there's not much that doesn't feel better after a chocolate. :)
