Off we go

I think I am bringing so much anime stuff to Maine that I could do nothing but watch all week and never repeat anything. The weather forecast does not look all that promising (temperatures for Bangor, ME are only in the mid-70s, and Bucksport is much closer to the ocean) and so we'll need something to do around the cabin. Hope I don't regret declining the offer to bring up the sewing machine.

Launch time is approx. 2 AM tomorrow morning. We'll get there around 10, do our shopping, and hit the lake. I am really looking forward to being 500 miles away from work. Though, there have been the pats on the back to go along with the fires to put out.

Parents have warned us that the Admiral's wife isn't doing all that well and has been becoming more forgetful. It's sad to see - she's trooped along and overcome so many health problems, but after a while, age catches up with you. The Admiral himself is ageless. 87 years old and he still is out in the yard chopping wood.

I wonder if this will be our last year. I wonder that every year when we pull up the drive. Certainly the Admiral and his wife aren't getting any younger, but he has a passle of kids and they all love the lake (esp. Meg) and maybe we can still go up there even after they've passed. Considering the Admiral, though, he'll be a hundred and two. His mother was.

Anyway.

Got the reading all stacked up: The Devil Wears Prada for mind candy and The Sparrow for more weighty pondering. Also, the omnibus edition of the OZ series I bought to better understand Wicked. Stichery, quilt to finish, pen drive for the laptop.

See you all in a week or so!

Oooo, I'm reading Wicked right now. I really like just the whole concept behind it, and I really wish the author would do that for Peter Pan. Because I love Peter Pan.

I got The Devil Wears Prada for my best friend for her birthday. Though I have yet to read it myself, she says it's a good read- nothing mind blowing, but very entertaining.

Have fun on your vacation!
