*yawn* Tired. Tired. Man, I am getting old.

Must. Gather. Energy. To. Go. Out.

One of the engineers I work with invited me along with half the other younguns in our crowd to have a pĂonta or two after work. My husband and I are Lame and we never hang out at bars or anything, so of course our idea of Grand Entertainment is enjoying the company of other engineers and scientists. Thus, what happens when you get so overspecialized that no one understands your humor. Or, conversely, when you describe something likely to vanish as "having a high vapor pressure" and everyone thinks you are immensely clever instead of giving you the You Are A Total Geek look.

I suppose there's news...

After a good amount of wheedling and buttkicking, we have made plans to go to the Canadian Grand Prix in June with husband's Very Best Car Pal. I do want to go, but I also figure this is building up credit for going to conventions. Three days straight of car racing and talking about cars and looking at cars and I can say "Honey darling sweetie, we went to the car race, remember? So I'm going to a con, okay?" Might as well get the conning in before the big 3-0 hits.

Work continues to go pretty well; it's so hard to tell with these things, but they keep giving me things to do, so I guess that's a good sign. Indispensibility and being laid off do not go hand-in-hand. One thing is for damn sure - we are going to need some serious help around here in a hurry, so if any of you peoples out there are experienced in analytical chemistry, give me a holler and I'll pimp you to my boss. He has no clue what's going to hit when SS leaves in June, but damn I'm gonna notice. Must have warm bodies!

My grandfather's health continues to hold for the moment. From my father, I learned that his blood pressure has been 80/40, a number that sticks in my mind because that was my bp when I cut my wrist open (an unfortunate accident.) The numbers continue to drop, and we play a waiting game. It's sick, to have to temper every weekend plan with "well, we might have to go to a funeral," but there's no helping it.

At least there's a bunch of stuff going on over the next couple months to anticipate. Dinner with the girls on the 27th, SS's wedding shower take two, family gatherings at Palm Sunday and Easter... all you can do is take one day at a time and keep moving.

Understand with the look. I'm in the medical field and I get the same look when I use the technical term for a bruise. Enjoy your St. Pattys day!
